For the spike on the top of the towel I cut a small slit (about 2-3 inches) above the eyes on my dragon, wedged the spike down in there and then sewed it closed from the underside.To make the spikes use your accent color and cut out triangles. I did 4 spikes so I needed 8 triangles:
