Haut, Woody (1999). Neon Noir: Contemporary American Crime Fiction (London: Serpent's Tail). ISBN 1-85242-547-4 But Olga the owl had been flying high and had seen Maximus in trouble. With her strong wings, she flew down just as the little mouse tipped over the roaring waterfall. She swooped him up safely, and put him down on the bank. In case you did not, as I didn't, "get" the title, The Shark Infested Custard takes its title from what Willeford calls an "old Miami riddle": "What is sweet, bright yellow, and extremely dangerous?" Apparently there is also a British kiddie TV show called this, after the same joke, which seems odd considering how well the title worked to convey the lethal sleaze of 1970s Miami. The series was produced by Hill's long-running production company, Avalon Television, and was initially broadcast on ITV between 2005 and 2006. Hill co-wrote the series with the comedian Dean Wilkinson.

While the show featured a game show element, Help the Aged, it was very similar in structure to Harry Hill. In the show, Hill wore a pale yellow, custard coloured shirt, with a giant collar, instead of his usual white collar. Weber, Bruce (March 4, 2003). The show was deemed new territory for Harry Hill at the time, as prior to its broadcast he had never produced any television show intended for children. However, for many years Hill, whose comedy has always generally been free of smut and harsh language, had appealed to a large audience of all ages. Two books – Harry Hill's Whopping Great Joke Book and Harry Hill's Bumper Book of Bloopers were released in 2006 to tie in with the series. This particular biscuit has been around since 1908, and has slowly but surely become a cornerstone of British tea-time. The crunchy-creamy-crunchy sandwich is regarded as a national treasure by some, and as, well, a little boring by others. What nobody expects it to be, is a danger to our families.

The bibliography below lists all original publications of Willeford's works and selected reprints that contain variant Willeford titles and/or texts or significant ancillary material. Hill later expressed some concern and disappointment over the post-production and editing of the series.Turned up at a fancy dress party as jelly, custard and cream half an hour before anyone else arrived. I was a trifle early. Savannah and Stefan, the squirrels who lived in the acorn tree, saw Maximus in the water too. A self-contained fragment from Willeford's novel The Shark-Infested Custard, finished by early 1975, but rejected by everyone who saw it as "too depressing" to publish. Four hundred–copy press run.
