About this deal
I was so curious about this new book, Cross Her Heart, and wondered if Sarah would take this story to the same level of crazy as the previous one.
With this move, the narrative dilates to encompass Lisa’s past experience, which is as unrelentingly grim and brutal as anything from Ian McEwan’s early novels. The next thriller I’m planning to read is Bird Box though, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Another big hit in the thriller world this year with a few thematic similarities (past crimes forced back to the present, teenagers gone missing, false accusations, etc.I wasn’t surprised, I only cared about one lesser character, and the writing style didn’t impress me. That's a bummer you didn't like this one, but at least you've read some way better books since that have more than made up for it :) I'll skip for now! Sarah will be appearing alongside Martyn Waites, Lisa Hall, Harry Brett and moderator Jake Kerridge. Nor, we learn, is Lisa the only one in the family with secrets, as we see Ava conducting a clandestine Facebook relationship with what appears to be an older man, one that threatens to move from the virtual to the physical. A crazy twisted affair of a novel that has you jumping backwards and forwards trying to second guess the ending.
He’s probably not used to waiting, even though we’ve only been sort of seeing each other a couple of months. But the hints of other crimes Tempe’s identification uncovers, particularly crimes against children, spur her on to redouble her efforts despite the new M. For the most part, the reader is kept in the dark about what happened in Lisa’s past and who is behind the current troubles until the last quarter of the book.
