About this deal

For Clark the Shark he has a real problem with boundaries and knowing when to curb his enthusiasm a bit. We have 5 copies of Lark the Shark and Wonda the Whale to be won in our competition, which ends on World Oceans Day– June 8th 2023. It has no real tune attached to it, so I could only really read it instead of sing it like the book instructed. As Clark has done before, he uses a rhyme to help him not be afraid of the dark that child readers of this book may be able to adopt to help them also get over their fears. This book can show children that there will always be other children that are feeling just like they are whether its being afraid of the dark, being scared of heights or just being sad.

An engaging story about learning some self-control, while also staying true to yourself, Clark the Shark highlights the important idea that sometimes behavioral problems at school are the product of too much energy, and illustrates the fact that children can learn the skills necessary to not disrupt their classrooms. Children (and adults) will love the colourful illustrations and fresh characters we meet in Lark the Shark and Wonda the Whale. After a while, Clark's friends don't want to sit near him, eat lunch with him, or even play with him.Clark the Shark is trying to get ready for his first sleepover, but he’s worried because it will be his first time sleeping outside without his glow-fish night-light. A second activity with this book would be a writing activity in which the students make their own rhymes about things they feel are important. At the end of the book, Clark learns when it is the right time to do what we want as well as the right place to do what we wants. As they start to tell each other spooky stories, though, all of them become a bit frightened and discover none of them are immune to fear. When the new kid showed up at the playground, the other children saw him as weird and different while Clark saw him as someone new who needed guidance.

The illustrations provided so many pops of color and a variety of different sea creature that make you want to stop and look at each and every one of them. Other ideas for English, could be freeze frames in drama for the chaotic behaviour of Clark and his resolve, or classroom rules brainstormed together for display. His teacher helps him to understand that 'there is a time and a place for everything', and although it is great to be yourself, you still have to be considerate to your friends and classmates around you. It has a very entertaining plot, but also teaches some great lessons in rhyming, word play, and manners. This will be an excellent resource in early elementary classes at the beginning of the school year to help students understand why the class has rules and why they are important.

The moral of the story is, that you can enjoy things but you must show consideration towards others and their feelings. A teacher could read this book and explain how in the book Clark mentions how something's are not okay in certain situations so that is why there are particular rules in the classroom. This book is a wonderful way to spark children's curiosity and love for nature while also promoting important values like kindness, empathy, and environmental stewardship. As for the text-to-teaching connection, the author does a good job of providing a lesson on how to behave in school. Clark then timidly admits to his friends that he is afraid of the dark, hoping that they won't laugh at him.Lark the Sharkseries follows Lark's journey as he learns about the negative impact of water pollution on marine life and takes action to make a difference. I will look forward to reading it to young folks in my life - especially those who are fans of creatures that are a bit more scary than fluffy bunnies or teddy bears. These words are very exciting for kids and encourage word-play that can be very good for language development.
