About this deal

Counter-intuitively, another perfume I often reach for is an oriental vanilla one, Vanillary by Lush. Thanks to a lovely Fragrantica member who introduced this scent to me, I am now hooked! Apply with a light hand; Vanillary shines in heat (so do quite a handful of gourmand and oriental ones)! The inky jasmine, vanilla and tonka combo somewhat smells like an exotic tropical island. Similar to what a coconut suntan lotion scent can conjure up, Vanillary has the same magic in summer. Wonderful article. It gave me a few tips what to try in summer. I live in Hungary, Middle Europe and summer is hot and sometimes rainy. Also I spend time in an air-conditioned office where warmer scents sometimes work better. No this scent is somewhere between the synthetic modern scent and sniffing an actual lemon or lime or orange peel. There is also a hint of spicy middle that makes the citrus easier on the nose, in my opinion. It reminds me a bit of one other favorite of mine, Old Spice Fresh Scent. It's similar in the mid scents and base. Of course the citrus is what is vastly different.

Burberry Weekend: Not just for men, it works for the ladies too! But that super sharp and green bite of ivy really smells gorgeous!Summertime can be a challenging season for many devoted perfume lovers. We all share a common interest in exploring complexity in a fragrance, appreciating its nuances and evaluating the long story that is narrated on the skin by a good scent. Yet when the temperatures change, so do our preferences for fragrance. The opening is pretty much a basket of dry herbs too populous to list, but including players like basil, thyme, and rosemary. There is a very strictly clean helping of lemon oil, camphor, and some taut English lavender, reminding me much of a component in Avon's Structured for Man (1969) vanity set (see the Steel component). Acqua di Selva is much more balanced and less cold medicinal camphor than the Avon, but I can see the inspiration. The heart is carnation and clary sage with some geranium to add more metallic brightness in an age before aldehydes were used in that way for masculines, but the base is where the main character lives. Pine, oakmoss, vetiver, cedar, and a bit of coumarin give this the main barbershop feel of Acqua di Selva, and will be most of what you smell after about an hour. This could be a good if somewhat antique-smelling office scent, great on hot days too, perfect for the "postmodernist" friend who is too hipster for the word "hipster". I wouldn't use this in social settings or romantic evenings unless your company has a particular taste for stuff from this era.

Summer is by far my favorite season and my perfume wadrobe attests to this. Of my 330+ perfumes I'd say 3/4ths are what I would dub "summery." I am one of those folks who loves a good airy, fresh, green or fruity summer scent. But as the dog days of summer intensify, and the mercury rises, I find myself reaching for my balsamy, vanilla, and frankly heavy scents. Sultry, that's what these fragrances are to me. A list of some of my favorite fragrances for summer.

This summer in Russia I am enjoying Christian Dior Sauvage Very Cool Spray - I use it every time when going to have a walk or before taking sunbaths near the sea: it refreshes perfectly and is very convenient to have in a travel bag (nothing will leak or break, if you know what I mean) or in the car; it became one of my favorites this warm summer when other body mists and colognes don't work. During my nights out I'm usually in the company of Eau Noire or modern Chamade - depending on the mood or occassion: their sillage makes others ask what perfume I am wearing, and makes me smile - but only me. Much like the Spanish Inquisition, as immortalised in the words of Monty Python, my weapons of choice are "fear and surprise, surprise and fear." They seem to work pretty well. The price of the scent is great value in my opinion. I enjoy mixing scents and am going to experiment with this one as well, but I will also wear this scent alone pretty regularly. Summertime in Greece is becoming hotter and hotter it seems, though we're quite accustomed to endless summer days when something light and bracing is best appreciated if one doesn't want to overwhelm their entourage and casual bystanders.

Again, I am by no means an expert is scents, but I do know some of the scent profiles and the ones that I like. And this one is a new one that I really like. I am wearing it for the third time this week and at 2:00 in the afternoon it still has a discernible light scent. Very few scents last that long on me. Well the first thing that stood out to me was that this does not have a dated or "old School" scent to me. I don't have any memory of this scent being worn by anyone I knew when growing up. The Citrus note is the topmost thing you get when smelling it in the container. It is not an industrial citrus like some describe Pledge furniture polish as being. It also doesn't have that overwhelming synthetic smell you get from Bath&Body works scents, Or Avon scents. Longevity from start to finish on my skin is about 4-5 hours, excellent for something that is an EDC. Sillage is light to moderate, so this fragrance is delightful and inoffensive to most people. You would have to douse yourself to overdo this one. A couple or three sprays in an office setting would give you a crisp, clean, and confident scent, that would last through most of the day. Bvlgari Mon Jasmine Noir L'eau Exquise: WONDERFUL!! Inoffesive at the workplace and still wonderful enough to charm your significant other.

After the fragrance settles a bit, touches of carnation, geranium make themselves known along with a wonderful musky cedar base. A bit of smoky vetiver makes it even more attractive. The final stages are a warm and gentle musk and the cedar. It is just an incredibly well-done fragrance. This option mixes the woody notes of barks, mosses and warm resins with the greener impression of aromatic spices, sweeping bypassers off their feet. When this particular product is first applied, bergamot, basil, lavender, rosemary and lemon come to the fore. Next middle notes of carnation, geranium, thyme, clary sage and pine move in. Finally the base of vetiver, tonka bean, moss, musk and cedar climbs to hone the olfactory experience. (Vetiver, sometimes called khus, is a grass similar to lemongrass and native to India.) Visconti di Modrone Colognes: Price UK Actually here is winter this time of year - although the "winter" in Brazil can be compared to the fall of the rest of the world! In any case in the summer I use: Chanel Chance Eau Vive: This works beautifully in our climate irrespective of whether its day or night. However, I wouldn't wear it on a rainy day because when it rains, IT POURS and it doesn't work in such crazy humidity.

The thing that I really like about is the way the scent adjusts after you apply it. It really does change as it drys and settles. It becomes a very nice almost classic smelling woody scent. No Leather scent, no overpowering muskiness, no odd powdery smell just a multi level nice woodsy scent with hints of cedar, vetiver, sage, and Bergamont. For example, the more intricate oriental/woody scents, as well as the more mysterious chypre fragrances (with their less volatile molecules or their animalic nuances), can become a little too much in extreme heat. But how can one survive on a diet of citrus-only, or a rotation of faceless synthetic ozonic fragrances which present little variation among themselves? Acqua di Selva by Visconti di Modrone is a Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men. Acqua di Selva was launched in 1949. Top notes are lavender, bergamot, lemon, rosemary and basil; middle notes are thyme, pine tree, cloves, clary sage and geranium; base notes are peat, cedar, musk and vetiver Dior Sauvage: This doesn't just smell soapy and clean but it's stunning! The new very cool spray is even perfect for women! In Portuguese heat, even a lover of heavy scents like me needs some refreshment. I am finding great comfort in SP Parfum's SP Parfums Sven Pritzkoleit Lemon Sorbet & Orange which is a surprising citrus fragrance. It focuses on citrus fruits with a lot of effects coming from synthetic molecules that give it the frozen element, and also calone, which I hate but is introduced in this formulation to great results. What I love the most is the icy effect it creates on my skin due to the strong presence of mint. I get that feeling of cooling, not in an olfactive way but in a clear tactile sensation. In the overall composition I love the oakmoss which gives it a chypre twist just like in vintage Eau de Courreges. Lemon Sorbet & Orange is my go to scent for this summer, but I am also wearing a lot of Calvin Klein Truth and thinking that this is a brand I have been exploring with great pleasure in different scents since I was 18.I love Acqua di Selva. It is now 64 years old, and does not smell dated to my nose. It opens with a tart lemon, fresh lavender, herbaceous pine. Smells clean and fresh in a non-laundry-musk or aquatic way. Note: For a warmer tint I personally enjoy layering a few sprays of Lorenzo Villoresi Teint de Neige with Victoria`s Secret Heavenly Eau de Parfum (body mist). From one perfume lover to another, Fragrantica's international team of editors share their own personal choices as to what works for them in different longitudes & latitudes during the time of year we folks in the Northern Hemisphere enjoy as summer. We invite you to share your own personal choices in the comments section below. Acqua di Selva starts out a aromatic, herby mix. I get an initial blast of soft petitgrain, basil, and rosemary. I don't get much citruses. There's a slight clary ssge to this, with just a tinge of sweetness coming from the lavender. But the middle notes are, overall, similar to the rest of the fragrance itself: dry, herbaceous, slightly green. During the dry down I get some pine, vetiver and musk. But it's fairly light and mostly gone after a few hours. I also like wearing Carnal Flowe from Frederic Malle, the most beautiful tuberose on the market in my opinion which fits perfectly for summer or holidays, with its refined green and white flower breath that unveils all the facets of the tuberose.
