Chris's favorite game genres to play are fighting games, visual novels, puzzle games, and music/rhythm games. Being able to quickly configure the controller to each specific game without needing to go into individual settings menus was a welcome addition.

Unlike a restrictive 4-way D-pad, the Razer™ Mecha-tactile 8-way D-pad allows you to streamline your execution with clean diagonal inputs so that you can perform moves with greater precision. I’m not a claw player, so it’s possible you may not find it cumbersome, but it seems like the tradeoff isn’t worth it. It takes a lot of the mechanical components that people like from arcade sticks – the six-button layout, quick-hitting buttons, eight-way directional movement – and transposes them to a controller form factor. I don’t think it’s as effective as an arcade stick, which is a problem because it’s just as expensive, but there is something to the idea: It feels more comfortable than using a standard DualShock 4.With a battler’s layout and reliable USB connection, the FightPad PRO has everything you need in a Street Fighter controller. These specialized gamepads remove the analog sticks (which fighting games seldom use) and add face buttons to provide the inputs of an arcade stick you can hold in your hand. The M30 is the only controller that feels like an improvement over the original Saturn controller, it is wireless, compatible with many other devices and it is sold for half of what is asked for this controller. An interesting choice, considering the Xbox version of this controller includes a profile button for on-the-fly switching.

Representing the classic arcade control style with a modern sheen, fightsticks are the general go-to for most fans of the fighting game genre looking to delve deeper into things, and it's easy to see why. It’s as good as you can get on a D-Pad, allowing for easy Street Fighter-style quarter- and half-circle motions. You get excellent button quality, a stick you can swap out and customise as you see fit, and the added benefit of being able to add personal touches and flair to it.Device Status will change from “OFFLINE” to “ONLINE” once the Fighting Commander OCTA has been recognized. Thankfully, the Fighting Commander Octa supports local button remapping and can be done very easily.
