About this deal

However, she found herself dissatisfied after a decade working in law where every day was a battle and she longed for a change. We spend time with Ryan and Anna, and I really like how easy they talk about the killings and Ryan doesn’t try to sugarcoat things “to protect her.” I do get tired of heroes always trying to protect the heroines, like the heroines are made of glass, or something. And, Ryan finally tells Anna about his sister and how Edwards killed Natalie, it was sad. When it was told what actually happened that day (Ryan was dreaming) it was really horrible, what Edwards did to Natalie. And later Ryan told Anna about going to see Edwards so Anna decided NOT to tell him she felt like she was being watched that day. Duh! AND Edwards is still an important player in this story, even if he is in prison. Tai pirma tokio tipo knygų serija, kurią skaitau ir man tai labai patinka. Kaip geras mini serialas. Neabejotinai tapau ištikima L.J.Ross gerbėja, nes vos pabaigusi vieną jos knygą, galvoju kaip greičiau imtis kitos 🤭 The story opens with a chilling death, as Ross’s previous two books have. The location is equally scenic, and the beauty of the place makes the activities of The Circle even worse. With a passion for writing and reading, a writing career seemed the most plausible way to express her creativity. The idea for the first novel in the series came while she was traveling to Edinburgh with her husband. Never thought of that, did you? You stopped yourself. You brought him in, even though everything inside you wanted to finish him, to take your revenge or whatever you want to call it. You did the right thing.’ DCI Ryan finds the body of a man in a remote church at Heavenfield in Northumbria. So starts this third book in this series but I strongly advise that you read the other two books first. The characters in this series are so realistic that it's as though I've known them for ages. Once again, through her excellent writing skills, and a balanced mix of suspense, humour and romance, the author has weaved yet another clever plot that kept me engrossed throughout. A dramatic scene towards the end left me gasp for air and I was on tenterhooks to see how it will all end. Who will die? Who will survive? I certainly wasn't expecting the ingenious (and believable) way in which the author ties up all loose ends at the end. Clever girl!

Detective Chief Inspector Ryan believes he has put his turbulent history behind him. Then, in the early hours of the summer solstice, the skeleton of a young woman is found inside the Roman Wall at Sycamore Gap. She has lain undiscovered for ten years and it is Ryan's job to piece together her past.Already suspended from Northumbria CID, Ryan must fight to clear his name. But soon, more than his career is at stake when prominent members of the mysterious ‘Circle’ begin to die. Somebody wants Ryan’s name to be next on the coroner’s list and to survive he must unmask the devil who walks among them – before it is too late. “

When a man is found dead at the remote church of Heavenfield, DCI Ryan is the only other person for miles around. The police have no weapon, no motive and no other suspects.” Although I think each book including Heavenfield is a GOOD 4 star read, for me the books get a little better each time. The reason for this is simple - the plot of each book gets better and more complex. Heavenfield is very clever and the story behind the body of the man found in the remote church is amazing. When I got to the end all those little details slotted together. Ryan is ably assisted by friend and trust-worthy veteran DS Frank Phillips, senior to him in age but not in rank, which would be awkward if they weren’t so close. A scene when they are reminded of Ryan’s sister’s murder: Son,’ Phillips’ gravelly voice gentle, designed to soothe. ‘I know what’s going on inside your head.’ . . . [Ryan protests.]The Holy Island mystery was cleared up, and The Circle was thought to have disbanded, but no, they lived to fight another day, and by golly, they’re a nasty lot. There’s minimal discussion of cult ceremonies – it’s not that sort of book – but just enough to know the High Priest wields enormous power and influence with his satanic practices. And there's deadly competition within the cult. There’s not a lot of blood and gore, just enough to be cringe-worthy. I wish to thank Booklover Catlady Publicity and the author for providing me with a copy of Heavenfield in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. Phillips shook his head. ‘There isn’t a person alive who could have stopped you, unless you’d wanted to.’
