About this deal

It is like a moral obligation that must be undertaken, something that doesn’t give the freedom of choice.

Chapters were often based on wisdom he had picked up along the way from his teachers, and he shared his understanding with us whilst talking about his own life experiences. He also discusses the NBA draft and how the team with the highest picks are most in need of help and how high school players really don’t help teams much for 3 years. In his mid-twenties Björn swapped his career as a business executive for life as a forest monk in the jungles of Thailand. If there’s one thing Charles Barkley knows, it’s the crying need for honest, open discussion in this country—the more uncomfortable the subject, the more necessary the dialogue. I May Be Wrong was an instant number one bestseller in Sweden, and won both the Adlibris and Storytel Award for Best Non-Fiction. Huge thanks to Tandem Collective for letting me join your read-along and all the lovely fellow blogger’s for all the great discussions. The result – here I have to give credit to the translator as well – is that it does sound like this strange Swedish guy is sitting next to you just chatting about how it was and more importantly how it is, and most importantly why this matters. Infusing the everyday with heart and grace, this is a wise and soothing handbook for dealing with life’s challenges.

The more people who read Lindeblad's story and his thinking and for themselves think, ok I'm not going to chuck it all in and run off to a monastery but I can use some of these ideas and principles, the better. Easier said than done, but the next time I’m in a ‘heated debate’ I’m going to try to remember this advice. He talks about the challenges and benefits of meditation, and gave some insight that helped me understand meditation better. He credits his co-authors Caroline Bankler and Navid Modiri for both getting his words down and editing them into cohesion. Life can be very overwhelming, and due to the inherently violent and traumatic nature of society people’s capacities can be very limited. But I do believe it is helpful to live life for what it actually is – that it is uncertain and impermanent. It brought me so much joy and so much comfort' FEARNE COTTON The Sunday Times bestselling book of comfort and timeless wisdom from former forest monk, Bj örn Natthiko Lindeblad___________ Let me tell you what this book is not.

The title itself is based on a talk given by one of his teachers when he told the class he was going to give them a mantra. As someone who meditates, and continues to have an attachment to thought, this is something I can very much relate to. Also, in the prologue he announces that he is in Death's waiting room earlier than [he] would have wished. Maybe I just read this book at a low moment when I needed it but I often felt that the book was talking directly at me, helping me with areas that I was struggling with. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The book is full of wisdom and wonderful stories, many of which I had heard but I still enjoyed listening to again and pondering on their messages. I didn’t expect it to be a musing on the intersection of race, celebrity, and life as a public figure. As the book asserts that psychological suffering is, in many ways, caused by what’s happening inside of us, the text is arranged with you in mind. Björn Natthiko Lindeblad (Buddhist name Natthiko Bhikku, 16 August 1961 – 17 January 2022) was a Swedish economist, lecturer, and Buddhist monk. Barkley also talks about his love for the state of Alabama and how he said some people approached him and wanted him to run for Governor.

Plain and simple, it's about how to relate to your own thoughts and emotions in a way that makes your life more enjoyable, more free, brighter. The next important thing is something else he throws at us up front, and I am going to quote it in full because I can speak to the fact that it utterly encapsulates why you should read this book. It's a bit of organized chaos, more rambling than actual train of thought from start to finish, but still valuable information. This book was written soon after his retirement from the NBA, so sports are still pretty fresh on his mind. Rather than taking your own sojourn to a life filled with rituals and practice far removed from normal society, learn how to achieve your own inner calm with this self-help book. The term applies though because, as I understand it (and I may be wrong) the term forest monastery refers to a concept / ideology / tradition / denomination / family as much as it does to the location of the building. The word “responsibility” just sounds like something we must do or carry no matter what, regardless of who we are, how we feel or think.
