I'm really sad right now because normally Rina's books awaken the comedian from the depths of my soul and I'm having a lot of fun clowning her shit, but today I just want to rant like a middle-aged woman whose coffee wasn't served hot enough. 🤧 A study by Afsar and Pinar evaluated spirituality in cancer patients with various types of advanced cancer and found that spiritual activities influenced their general happiness and life satisfaction. Cancer patients also reported, when they experienced pain they preferred social isolation, a change in their enviroment, massage and lying down or resting as coping strategies. 50 A another study by Babaoglu and Oz examined, psychological problems of spouses who take care of a terminal cancer patient. The spouse reported experiencing hopelessness, spiritual distress and failure in coping with social problems. 51 The ghost of Laios demands the expulsion of Oidipous from Thebes before he will recall the pestilent daimones including Dolor (Algos) [15] that plaguing the land: rina kent is usually good with mental illness/health representation, but when it came to annika's mental health, it perished. it was described that she was depressed but there was no development of mental health. it was mentioned 2-3 times by other people, and then they still treat her like shit. same with creigh, his trauma is mentioned once or twice, but it doesn't showcase the full effect. This is a very strange love. I admit that. You have to spend your whole life trying to get yourself right side up because we’re born upside down. We’re born with ourselves at the center. And this text is saying that this won’t make sense if you stay at the center of your life. If you are your treasure, this will be insanity. If God is your treasure, this will make sense. You’ll understand what love is because you understand glory. His glory is the center of your life.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29–31) Spiritual coping is discussed in many studies, so far. Finally, both positive and negative spirituality and religious practices were strongly related to well-being for the clergy. In some of studies, reported cultural differences are affect the results that related to both negative and positive spiritual and religious coping. In these studies shown that, in different cultural settings are also affected spiritual and religious coping during times of stres and illness. 46 Hot omg he took my breath away in this book, I got really mad at him at some point but I understand what he went through. Bush et al. also described whether religious and non-religious coping strategies relate to outcomes after controlling for the influence of demographic variables. This study also evaluated whether different forms of religious coping were associated with different outcomes. The researchres gathered information from 61 patients seeking treatment at a pain management center. Most of patient were Caucasian women with fibromyalgia, arthritis, post surgical, and carpal tunel pain. Patients provided a wide array of demographic data, 51 percent indicated that they were moderately religious and 30 percent reported that they were very religious. The participants also completed questionnaires concerning how pain, affected their lives, how they coped with the pain, the role and functional of religious faith and practice in their lives, their general mood, and outcomes related to their coping process. As regards the first question, religious and nonreligious coping were moderately related to pain outcomes after accounting for the influence of demographic variables. More specifically, the positive religious coping items were correlated with increased positive affects and a strengthening of religious faith and practice. Religious coping efforts were more helpful than nonreligious coping. 41 Natural disasters are relentless in their devastation. Last year flooding in China made millions homeless. A typhoon in North Korea killed hundreds. Earthquakes in Italy killed 200, in Ecuador 300. A hurricane in the Haiti killed over 500.And therefore Christian emotions are not simple. We will “rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15). And there is always someone we know who is weeping, and someone we know who is rejoicing. And therefore we will learn the secret of “sorrowful yet always rejoicing” — and joyful yet always sorrowing. Global Suffering

Creighton. Creighton has his own demons from his past that he is battling and wants to avenge. Annika We must see this, and feel this, or we will not turn to Christ for salvation from the ugliness of sin. We may want to escape the penalty of sin. But will we see and hate the ugliness of sin, if we do not see the ugliness of its image in physical pain? I really liked creig's voice especially when he says small purple, I'm not going to lie and I'm going to confess that I didn't like the voice of the actress who plays annika, not that the actress doesn't do a good job because yes she's amazing more for feeling that doesn't suit annika. And therefore, God is glorified. Christ is magnified to the degree that, in the face of death, I have my deepest satisfaction in him. He doesn’t look good if we walk toward death and have no delight in him. We don’t make him look good that way. But if we walk toward death with satisfaction in the revelation of his glory, he looks good. Love is doing whatever you have to do, God or man doing what you have to do through suffering — whatever it costs — to reveal the greatest glory for the greatest enjoyment to God’s people. That’s what I think the logic of John 11:5–6 implies. God’s Glory at the Center Just like the other time, it seems that whenever he punishes me, something inside him claws to the surface. No, Annika, you just met a recycled version of all the other m So we ask: “Why, Lord? Why is the world you made like this? If you are God why is this world so full of terror and trouble?” Wrong Reasons This world of pain and suffering exists because God planned from eternity to permit this so that we could know the fullness of God’s justice and power and wrath and patience, and grace and love which we would not have known without such a world. My whole life since about 1969 has been devoted to trying to understand, live out, and make plain this sentence: God is most glorified in you when you are most satisfied in him. And if you wonder where I get this sentence, I get it from texts like this. John 11:4 says this is not about death. This is about the Son of God being glorified. And verses 5–6 in their logical connection say this is about being loved. So, if it’s about being loved and Christ being glorified, then surely I’m being treated well. I am being given joy and satisfaction now and forever by the revelation of that glory.

Here’s the second thing to think about. I think that John, in writing chapter 11, is intentionally inviting us to see our own resurrection in relationship to Lazarus’s — our death and our resurrection as parallel to Lazarus’s. Why do I think that? You might want to drop your eyes down to verses 23–26. Overall such a good steamy, dark and twisted time... I mean it's a Rina Kent book so when isn't it🤷‍♀️ I loved seeing more of the characters we know and love from the previous generation of books as well as characters I'm excited to read more about in this series. With the fireteam returning to the sarcophagus, Nezarec burst forth from his amber-like encasement, displaying a newly grown body fed on the Light and Darkness supplied by the Guardians. He reveled in his newly-found powers, controlling both Light and Dark, wishing to hear the screams of terror of the fireteam as he killed them. The Guardians, however, proved too strong for his newly born state and he was destroyed, exploding in much the same fashion as Rhulk, Calus and the Tormentors had met their ends. Nezarec reminded the fireteam that even though he had expired, he would always be present in their memories and nightmares, an inescapable impression upon the Universe. You simply can't get any more unoriginal and trite than this. Good old 'monsters, devils, deviant and demented souls' with their infinite 'thirst for blood and violence'. (🙄) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

This illness does not lead to death” (John 11:4). The point of this illness is not death; it is the glory of God so that the Son of God may be glorified through it. It’s like the blind man in John 9:1–7. The disciples say, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” (John 9:2). And Jesus said, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him” (John 9:3). All these years of blindness are about glory. The same is true with Lazarus. Lazarus is going to die, and Jesus knows he’s going to die. He’s going to let him die intentionally. And it’s all about glory. A study by Wachholtz and Pargament (2005) randomly assigned 84 college students to one of three groups, relaxation, secular meditation, and spiritual meditation. Participants filled out psychological and spiritual assessments prior to learning their technique. After practicing their technique for 20 minutes a day for two weeks, each individual placed their hand up to their wrist in a cold water bath and held it there for as long as they could. Psychological and spiritual assessments were completed again. The spiritual meditation group reported significantly more mystical experiences than the other two groups and a greater increase in closeness to God. Furthermore, although they reported the same subjective level of pain as the other groups they were able to endure the pain level almost twice as long as the other two groups. There is some debate regarding the role of spirituality and the impact of meditation on health. 44 In addition, Wachholtz and Pargament reported their effect on 83 participants who met the criteria for vascular headache. The participants were randomly assigned into four groups, Spiritual Meditation, Internal Secular Meditation, External Secular Meditation, and Relaxation. They were assessed through a pretest on headache frequency and severity, affect, anxiety, depression, quality of life, self efficacy, religious demographics, spiritual well-being, and spiritual experiences. Following one month of 20 minutes a day practice, the participants returned to the lab to practice their technique followed by placing their hand in a cold pressor bath. Next they completed a follow-up assessment. The Spiritual Meditation group reported a significantly greater reduction in headaches and greater pain tolerance in comparison to the other groups as well as an increase in existential well-being. 45 The spiritual meditators in both studies focused on one of four phrases: God is peace, God is joy, God is good, or God is love. All four phrases express a sense of goodness, support and comfort similar to what the participants in the Wiech et al. study may have experienced when they viewed a picture of the Virgin Mary. Words and images that evoke the presence of love, support, and/or comfort thus appear to have a salutary effect on pain. Repeating these phrases, or using visual stimuli can make these spiritual resources more salient to individuals who are experiencing pain. 42I also liked all the hints and snippets to the other potential couples in the series. It definitely made me more curious on where their stories are heading. During the campaign of Lightfall, Neomuna Civil News reported that the Neomuni were experiencing widespread nightmares, with one name appearing in all of them: Nezarec. The reports also speculated on the connections between Nezarec and the Psions. Gaius Julius Hyginus, Fabulae from The Myths of Hyginus translated and edited by Mary Grant. If you’re going to minimize Lazarus’s experience, you better minimize your own. “It’s no big deal to die. I’m going to rise in four days anyway — I mean, more or less.” And you don’t do that. You know you don’t do that. You don’t minimize your death. You don’t minimize your loved one’s death. You take it seriously. You groan, you grieve, you ache — and that’s the way we should feel this.
