About this deal

A creamy light blue. Patina is the color that real copper turns when exposed to the elements and agent over time This unique substance can be used on so many different surfaces including metal, wood, plastic, glass, ceramics, and even painted surfaces. It is especially great on metal objects and this is what I use it for the bulk of the time. I love using it on old light fixtures, drawer pulls and more. What does Rub n Buff do?

Depending on the item, you may want to sand it lightly, but that is completely up to you and NOT MANDATORY. For example, a rough wood surface might benefit from light sanding. SHOP A SIMILAR LOOK:

Prepare your item. Ensure that it is clean and the surface is dry. Rub ‘n Buff can be applied to painted surfaces, metal, wood, ceramics and more I also love that one small tube costs about 14 dollars. So for that small amount of money I was able to get a whole new set of lamps! Let’s talk about my most recent project using Rub N Buff and look at the complete transformation of the wall lamps in my master bedroom. REMEMBER, a little goes a long way. Squirt a small amount onto your brush, sponge, or finger and begin applying it to your piece. You will instantly see how EASY and FAST the transformation is.

Make sure to prep the surface before hand by cleaning and drying it off completely. Use a soft cloth to apply the rubbing compound in a circular motion. That’s it! You don’t need to use any sort of top coat or protector with Rub-n-Buff, which also keeps the application process simple. Is Rub-n-Buff waterproof?Take a look around your home and see what old wall art canvases you thought you were ready to toss. Or shop local thrift stores and yard sales. You might be able to snag one for a dirt-cheap price, and the canvas will look BRAND NEW by adding this wax metallic finish over textured lines or unwanted colors. I have no fear of spray paint, but it’s not always feasible. For example, some objects like curtain rods and picture frames with permanent glass cannot easily be sprayed. And I like a more realistic metallic finish that spray paint can’t always replicate. As you can see, the colors are GORGEOUS! Every color has such a unique look to it! Perfect for the DIYer who wants to update items on the cheap! As mentioned, it’s available in 12 different colors, but it’s certainly not a product that offers all the colors of the rainbow. Instead, Rub ‘n Buff has more variety in metallic finishes such as silver and gold, with a few surprise color splashes that include patina and ruby.

If brass isn’t on your color palette, Rub and Buff has several other finish options to choose from. They all go on the same way – by rubbing and buffing – but some of them, like silver, have a slightly different spreading consistency. So to answer the question, YES, Rub ‘n Buff can be applied to metal, wood, plastic, and paint surfaces. And you DO NOT have to use a primer beforehand, and NO topcoat is needed. It’s a finish that has the ability to refresh, well, really anything. The old door handles pictured above are a perfect example of what Rub ‘n Buff can make look brand new. The paste can be used on painted surfaces, metal, wood, ceramics, plastic, glass, metal and more. It’s easy to apply and can completely transform any item in a matter of minutes! I love to use it on antiques, frames, crafts and home decor. Color Options You might be wondering, what is Rub ‘n Buff? And you might be surprised to hear it’s not a paint formula but instead, a metallic wax blend that combines imported carnauba waxes with fine metallic powders and pigments. As a result, it gives a unique and rich finish that no can of paint offers. ANTIQUE WHITE– A metallic white. FYI, I cannot find this white tone anywhere online. A few people have speculated that it’s been discontinued.

For instance, do you have any old picture frames that could use a refresh? Instead of sending them to GoodWill, apply Rub ‘n Buff, and they will instantly look BRAND NEW. Some people even use it to revive old pairs of shoes. Here is a BEFORE and AFTER picture of the gold plate chargers. As you can see, the plate on the left is tarnished and worn. However, just one coat of gold leaf Rub ‘n Buff revived the charger and made it look brand new. RECOMMENDED SUPPLIES: Makeup brush — Obviously you won’t be using it on your face again, so don’t use your favorite brush! It must be stiff and not fluffy (a blending brush works well) and you’ll want super fine/soft bristles for best results. If you don’t have any handy, I love this inexpensive brush set and use it for makeup, but the stiffer large brushes will work for this project. Make sure the makeup brush is completely clean and dry.

Watch my video here of how I use Rub N Buff on these lamps!

Yes, Rub-n-Buff is permanent, so make sure you’re certain about your decision before you start applying! Like all paints and finishes, it can still be scratched or chipped, so take care with your finished surfaces. Immediately buff it off in rough areas with a soft cloth. See photo below for an example before buffing.
