About this deal

The display of third-party trademarks and trade names on this site does not necessarily indicate any affiliation or the endorsement of PCMag. Six decades in the business requires a special kind of celebration, which is why we created our limited edition Black Diamond collection.

If it were us, we'd probably opt for the much cheaper, wired Marshall Major III - but then you can't share your music with a friend via Bluetooth and the 3. Although, as with pretty much every set of on-ear headphones we've tested, the Major III do have a tendency to feel like they're pinching on our ears after a while. On the Major III Bluetooth headphones, hold down the power button for about 5 seconds until the LED indicator starts flashing. The Marshall Major III Bluetooth headphones are the latest in the much-loved British audio brand’s wireless headphone range, and while the changes are minor over the last pair they are still a winning combination of look, sound and battery life. It’s useful when you want to listen to music but also be aware of what’s happening around you, for example when you’re jogging but still want to be able to hear traffic. The headband is slim and doesn't dig into our head even after extended durations, while the sturdy adjustment sliders offer a decent amount of size customisation.

The wooden cabinet construction helps provide a warm, natural sound and the bass reflex system includes a port to increase efficiency at low frequencies.View image in fullscreen The included cable allows the headphones to be used wired without needing battery power.

Using the Voice Memos app on an iPhone 6s, we could understand every word we recorded, though the mic sounded slightly distant and there were some minor audio artifacts, which is typical with Bluetooth headphone mics. While the Marshall Major III aren’t quite the best-sounding headphones in their class, they’re a good choice for Marshall fans looking for a pair that isn’t too garish or eye-catching. The Marshall III’s seem to be much better at drowning out white noise, which we discovered when we took them on the train for the morning commute. They feel extremely well made, and improvements to the design mean you’d have to be pretty rough with them to break them. The black, semi-coiled cable has a simple inline remote control and mic compartment at around chin level. It’s unique in that, while it looks like a simple power button with a few extra functions, it’s actually both a button and a switch. With the multi-directional control knob you can play, pause, shuffle and adjust the volume of your device, as well as power your headphones on or off.

With its collapsible design, Major III Bluetooth is the ultimate travelling companion, able to withstand long days on the road.

You’d be hard pressed to notice the difference at first glance between 2016’s Major II Bluetooth and the new Major III Bluetooth. If you're paired with a phone and connect one end of the cable to the headphones and leave the other loose, audio will still stream to your headphones from your paired device. They're mid-range in comparison with other Bluetooth, wireless headphones and once you add in the long battery life, you have very well placed set of entry-level headphones.
