Clenbuterol is another popular female steroid, and many women in sports use it. Clenbuterol has been shown in clinical trials to increase muscle mass and improve aerobic capacity. However, this drug increases your body temperature and heart rate, making it risky to use. So, for example, we read in Psalm 100:2: “Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” Or James 4:8: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” These are invitations into the fuller, more intense, more certain, more joyful, more satisfying, more transforming experience of the reality of God. That is my first half of the metaphor. His teaching was simple: whatever you do, in word or deed, converse with God about it. Talk to Him and worship Him as you do all of your tasks. If you happen to wander from this conversation, don’t beat yourself up about it, instead, peacefully return to communion with God as soon as you are aware of what happened. At any moment and in any circumstance, the soul that seeks God may find Him, and practice the presence of God.

I love this quote from Calhoun from her book The Spiritual Disciplines Handbook. In this quote, she speaks about Practicing the Presence of God: Of course, the only exception is that He did not sin, but He was fully human… and in that we have hope and direction. So in summary, God is, yes, to be sure, omnipresent in some of his influences — like, his sustaining all things at all times, holding every electron and every sub-nuclear particle in its place. But he makes his influence more manifestly felt and experienced in particular ways and particular times. Given this biblical reality of God’s presence in our midst, what does attentiveness look like? Moses provides one illustration, recorded in Exod. 3:1–3:Brother Lawrence had this wellspring that would bubble up and out simply from staying in conversation with God throughout his day. Being hungry for His presence and desiring to be in the presence of the Lord on a daily basis should be our greatest priority… just to be with Him and seek His presence with all our hearts. We all live in His presence all the time, (“In Him we live and move and have our being” Acts 17:28) but not many people are aware of it.

Brother Lawrence, a seventeenth-century French monk, learned to practice the presence of God at all times. And you can, too. Here in one volume are two classic works by Brother Lawrence. Each book reveals how to practice God's presence and see His glory in every facet of your life.Essentially the writer is saying that we should receive the word of God and have it shape the way we think and feel, which is basically a renewed mind. The Bible says that we are to “receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James 1:22).
