About this deal

The Actik is compact and lightweight at 88 grams, so the headband has been kept simple. The headband is comfortable, reasonably stable, adjustable, washable, and removable. Replacement bands are available for when it starts to look old and worn out.

Continuous red lighting to preserve night vision without blinding those around you, and strobe to signal your location, especially in emergency situations The SWIFT battery takes six hours to charge, which is a reasonable amount of time - significant enough to require some planning if you are heading out. Clearly this is fine if you put it on to charge before heading to work, but less fine if you forget and hope to charge it after. It would be great if this time was lower, but perhaps it's no surprise. There’s just one button on top, so the function is simple and intuitive and because it's a good sized button you can operate it whilst wearing gloves. While innovations like the NAO adaptive lighting headtorch and the futuristic-looking IKO have grabbed the headlines in recent years, it’s at the more affordable end of the Petzl headtorch range that the French brand reaches its biggest audience. The Tikka, Tikkina and Actik models provide no-nonsense lighting for your average hiker, climber runner and mountaineer – and they do it very well – and for autumn 2022 this collection of models has been redesigned and updated. The standard Actik is the best bet if you don’t need the rechargeable option. And, you can always buy a Core battery later and use it anyway, as both lamps are compatible. The dispersion of light is wide, even and soft edged, so you don’t feel like you’re in a tunnel or a kaleidoscope and the three light settings are appropriate for most outdoor activities, walking, running or by rope. The headlamp is powered by either the core battery or 3 standard AAA batteries in a holder. As a result, the LED headlamp offers a lot of flexibility. The included core battery has a charging capacity of a decent 1250 mAh. According to Petzl, it can last up to 400 hours at the lowest light level. It also can charge it within 3 hours via a universal micro-USB port. Different Light Modes and Colours

Aesthetically, all three models are very similar. They’re rugged and have a compact, streamlined casing. They’re grippy, easy to adjust, have soft, comfortable headbands with reflective elements and they each fit very well over hoods and helmets. Users of Petzl's rechargeable CORE battery will be on familiar ground here. Due to its output the SWIFT RL requires a larger battery than its cousin the ACTIK, hence there is no compatibility between the two - something that may annoy some of our audience. However, when you think about the SWIFT's greater lumens and burn time, it's quite clear why. The SWIFT is providing a heavyweight amount of lighting within a lightweight and compact exterior. The Actik Core comes with the CORE rechargeable battery and also works with three standard batteries, thanks to its HYBRID CONCEPT design. Please note that inflatables such as sleeping mats are not considered as faulty if they become punctured during use and are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty in this event. Detachable, washable headband is symmetrical for easy adjustment and reflective for added visibility at night Its phosphorescent reflector makes it easy to find in the dark and red lighting keeps you from blinding those around you when you’re with a group. A red LED gives you a short-range night-vision-saving option too, for reading maps and the like. As a safety feature the red light can also be switched to strobe mode, visible at 700m and with a burn time of 400 hours. As well as throwing light out a long way, the ACTIK casts quite a wide beam, not the narrow focused spot that some torches offer. I find this wider field of vision feels more natural and less blinkered.

High-performance lighting in dynamic outdoor activities: proximity or distance vision and rapid movementThe Actik Core is supplied with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery which saves money on disposable batteries and is more environmentally friendly. The LEDs can be made to shine in various ways using the control element at the front. A total of 350 lumens are available. The white light cone can be set to 3 strengths depending on the situation. In Max Autonomy mode, 5 lm are generated with a 7 meter beam. This is enough, for example, to move slowly on snow at dusk or on a bright night. In the standard setting , the lamp reaches 100 lm and 50 m. For faster activities and very dark lighting conditions, you can activate the max power mode with 350 lm and a light range of up to 95 m. The softer red light is an economical alternative and easier on the eyes . Light Powered Headlamp Compatible with mounting accessories (not included) that allow the lamp to be attached to a helmet or bicycle In line with current health and safety guidelines, we reserve the right to refuse any items that are (for whatever reason) not returned to us in a clean and hygienic condition. Both the Actik and Actik Core keep things simple by only providing you with only those functions you really need:

Of course the amount of power available declines over time. You're not going to get that 300 lumen supernova for 60 hours, by any stretch of the imagination. In my experience with AAA batteries, the decline from maximum output is noticeable quite rapidly; but since you start out with a lot of power I've found there's still plenty to get by with several hours later. For descending a Munro after sunset, or starting and finishing your winter climbing day in the dark, battery life at maximum output is more than sufficient. Turn down the output and you've a big safety cushion.

Why are these batteries so great? They fit in the standard compartment, so it’s easy to swap in/out with other batteries you might need (spare alkalines are always worth having on hand). The direction of the beam can be manually adjusted for either close-up focused work or as a flood straight ahead of you. Petzl ACTIK CORE: Performance HYBRID CONCEPT design: TIKKA® comes with 3 AAA/LR03 batteries and is also compatible with the CORE rechargeable battery (not included); it automatically detects the energy source and adjusts lighting performance Casting 600 lumens, Actik Core provides powerful and comfortable lighting to go with you when you're running, trekking, mountaineering or travelling. The headtorch comes with Petzel’s rechargeable Core battery which charges with a micro-USB, so you can charge the torch almost anywhere. This is the headtorch I take away if I'm on a multi-day hike as being able to charge on the go gives me the confidence, that I'm not suddenly running out of charge and potentially finding myself in a dangerous situation. The headtorch also can be powered with three AAA batteries
