a well written private make-out scene that was almost going to progress into explicit spice until an interruption (grrrr) Im sorry, the story just didnt do it for me. It was a nice premise and interesting idea but it just wasn’t executed well because…well…it wasn’t executed that much?

The spice scenes in this were so so. One of the guys in the harem was portrayed as a big Dom and how other women did not sub well yet the Dom/Sub relationship went no where between him and Harlow. There is a tampon/period scene that was just gross. The word "sprayed" was use excessively in reference to female ejaculation. I didn’t feel a whole lot of chemistry between the 2 love interests until the last 20% - but once it was there I got SUPER invested. Let me start by saying even though I’ve given this 3.5⭐️ the story was still enjoyable and the series has so much potential. Im just hoping it’s up from here. I will be continuing to book 2And honestly harlow was just too much. Her “clit throbbed” (thats from the book) for anything and everything. She can come 5 times in 15 minutes apparently. Her pus*y is like waterfalls 24/7. She can take anything and everything (even, khm, gun in her vagina….) and she was just this wild sex crazed kinky person but she didnt know it till she met them. Mind you she is like this while being on some hardcore anxiety pills. I am not a doctor but as a person who suffered from certain things and consumed certain medication….this just doesnt sit right with me. It was just so far from reality that after her 10th squirt in one chapter i was like “what kind of human is she?? Am i the anormal one here??” And that sense of fakeness just ruined the smut part for me as well after some time.. I do recommend waiting on reading this book when the new format is out, since there's quite a lot of typos, extra words and some sentences don't flow as nicely as they should! But I'm left with two feelings that have little to do with the book's main themes. The first is my envy of the main character's daily routine (until it's interrupted by occult forces, that is): wake up in the morning and make coffee; work on short stories for publications with names like Weird Underground in accordance with your occupation as freelance writer of all manner of unconventional fiction; take a long hike through the hills of San Francisco; maintain an affair with a beautiful and intelligent harpsichordist who lives on the fourth floor of your apartment building; eat at a German restaurant with friends; play a couple of nearly silent games of chess in the evening with an acquaintance in the building with whom you don't share a language; then go to sleep and do it all again. Fritz Leiber maintained that the two texts "should be regarded as the same story told at different times." [2]

Where to start with this review… I have definitely seen both sides - some obsessed with this series & devouring it whole, others finding the FMC annoying, angry & bratty (side note, I hate the word bratty for an FMC 😅) but I can see she is an angry woman & some people feel uncomfortable with that - might want to ask why that is? I found this duo to be highly unorganized and frankly boring. In the first part of book one there is a section describing the Lords, it was very confusing because she was talking about 3 but there are 4 Lords. Throughout the books the Lords personalities were not differeniated alot making it hard to seperate them or even to get emotionally attached to the character. The story was also a little predictable but I didn't have a problem with that since I did find the overall plot interesting and I was really immersed the entire time. These books are not short, so it is a bingeable series. If you’re looking for something simple and fast paced, these are not the books for you.At times it can feel repetitive and too long, but once your invested it is so exciting to watch everything unravel. Tropes/Features: Secret society, age gap, enemies to lovers, chosen family, anti-hero MMCs, 18 yo FMC, kidnapping, touch her and die, OTT J/P, kidnapping, MM, bi-awakening MM, group scenes Cons: Their relationship came out of nowhere for me. Something happens to Harlow that really gets under the guy’s skin and that seems to spur them into exploring their feelings for each other. As soon as Harlow is safe, she’s their girlfriend…. Another reviewer mentioned this and it is absolutely true. Spit as lube in the majority of the scenes is just ridiculous. These people are super rich and can’t afford lube? Not much to the plot about Charles’ murder and why. Harlow doesn’t push for more information. There could have been a great plot point there to discover Charles’ reasoning for betrayal. There were some instances of missing words few and far between too. Novel by Fritz Leiber Cover of the first edition, published by Berkley Books. Cover art by Richard M. Powers. Nuri was right about her being coddled by all the men in her life, everyone of them falling head over heels in love with her.
