Raw files are so named because they are not yet processed and therefore are not ready to be printed or edited with a bitmap graphics editor. This technique shifts the electronic image from frame to frame of video, enough to counteract the motion. We were comfortable flying to at least 200m (700ft) from where we stood before developing concerns about the signal, which more than adequate for a drone of this size.There are also other automated shooting modes available, including point of interest that’ll circle around a point of interest 10m away for a cool spiral-esque shot, and a Follow Me mode. But while the drone itself feels robust and sturdy, the accompanying controller doesn’t feel quite as polished, made from a cheap-feel plastic with a particularly awkward phone mounting system that barely accommodates large-screen phones like the iPhone 13 Pro Max. After the release of the HS720, Holy Stone upgraded the drone with the HS720E [also known as HS105]. That’s not to say it’s bad quality – in fact, I’d say it’s on a par with a mid-range Android smartphone, with natural colours and good exposure, though with more of a wobble.

HD photography with a 2k camera, adjustable angle and shock absorption produces good stills and video that can be recorded onto a micro SD card. The latter can be particularly hard to reach when a phone is mounted, which can make mid-flight camera adjustments finicky – all the more important when you consider the lack of automated camera movements. Although occasionally evident, especially near the corners, the correction is good and seems to handle turns as well as vibration. The LED built-in display on the remote has basic telemetry, like the number of GPS satellites and their signal strength, as well as the signal strength of the remote and drone connection and their respective battery charge levels. One-key take-off and landing can be expected as standard for all but the cheapest drones these days, but the HS720 drone does so smoothly and steadily. The HS720e is also equipped with a 130 degree lense, giving you a wider field of view compared to the 110 degree FOV on the HSE720. The most notable upgrade is 1) the HS720E comes with an EIS anti-shake camera, and 2) it supports an SD card with storage of up to 128GB (it's 32GB with HS720).
