About this deal

VOC: EU limit value for this product (cat. A/f) 700 g/L (2010). This product contains max. 628 g/L. All previous coatings must be completely and thoroughly removed with Dilunett and stripped surfaces neutralised with Net-Trol before applying Deks Olje D1. Deks Olje D.1 provides a transparent finish which enhances the natural grain of the timber. The deep penetrating formula protects against moisture ingress and stabilises the timber. When no more can be absorbed, wipe up all excess as described in step 3. You are now finished with Deks Olje #1.

Surfaces must first be clean, dry and free of all surface contamination. Clean and restore any Deks Olje D1 that has lightened to a grey finish, with Net-Trol, before applying Deks Olje D2. Wood already treated with Deks Olje D2 Wood surfaces that have been untreated and allow to weather are best treated with Owatrol Net-Trol to remove the dirt, restore the colour andensure the timber is at the correct PH level for application of a finish, the surface will then need to be allowed to dry before applying D1 Deks Olje. Sanding between coats is not required but for an extra high gloss finish, sand between the last 2 coats with 600 grit paper. Please note that hardwoods may darken with Dilunett. Neutralising with Net-Trol immediately after rinsing will lighten and restore the woods colour. Treat mildew with a 50/50 bleach/water solution. Scrub solution on to surface and allow to stand for 10-15 minutes; rinse thoroughly.Coverage depends on the porosity of the wood surface. On very porous wood coverage could be as low as 2 square metres per litre. Caution Leave final application 30 minutes, then wipe over the surface to remove excess and puddled material with a rag soaked in DEKS OLJE® D.1 and rung out so that it is damp to the touch. If necessary occasionally ring out the cloth to keep it damp. If using in the marine environment, allow 3 days for Deks Olje D2 to set-up and dry before putting the boat in service. Clean Up What happens if I do not apply D1 "wet on wet" and leave long periods between application i.e. a week?

Can be applied above and below the water line (must be overcoated with a suitable finish below the waterline). If necessary, occasionally ring out the cloth to keep it damp. It is important that as much D1 as possible is applied on the first day. There have since been other types of varnish added to the market that give just as good of a finish but with a longer-lasting result. 1-Part Polyurethane Boat VarnishThe combination of using D1 and D2 is a very popular one and we can see why! Take a look at some previous posts of customers using this system on the projects: Before using Deks Olje D2, all wood surfaces should be treated and protected with Deks Olje D1 saturating wood oil. Unlike traditional varnishes, Deks Olje D2 will not craze or blister and because of Deks Olje D1’s penetrating qualities it will not peel or flake as water is unable to get into the wood. On boats, D2 can be used for all applications above the waterline but please note that due to the high gloss finish it is not suitable for surfaces which will be walked on as it would be very slippery. Ideal Uses for Deks Olje D2 High gloss oil Do not apply Deks Olje D2 in wet weather or late in the day when dew or fog may be expected. This may dull a newly set film causing it to blush – exposure to sunlight usually removes the discoloration. DO NOT allow Deks Olje D1 to become dry or touch dry between applications. Leave the ?nal application for 30 minutes, then wipe over the surface to remove excess and puddled material with a rag soaked in Deks Olje D1 and rung out so that it is damp to the touch. If necessary occasionally ring out the cloth to keep it damp. It is important that as much D1 as possible is applied on the ?rst day. Once the wood is saturated leave for 30mins and then wipe the surface to remove and excess oil with a rag that has been soaked in Deks Olje D1 and rung out so it’s damp.

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime, mildew and previous coatings. Treat mildew with a 50/50 bleach / water solution. Scrub solution onto surface an allow to stand for 10-15 minutes; rinse thoroughly. After stripping and cleaning, allow wood to dry 2-3 good drying days or until it has reached a moisture content of 18% or less before applying finish. Can only be applied to bare wood surfaces on a weathered wood surface that was previously finished with Deks OLJE D1. All other finishes must be completely and thoroughly removed. If necessary sand surface after cleaning and/or stirpping. Deks Olje D2 is a varnish-like, tough, flexible and durable finish that enhances the natural beauty of both interior and exterior wood. It forms a highly flexible film which moves with the wood to prevent peeling and flaking. Deks Olje D2 is easy to apply and to maintain and the more coats you apply the more high gloss the finish will be. No sanding is required between coats and maintenance and repair can also be carried out without stripping! Regular washing with Net-Trol will help to maintain the appearance of Deks Olje D1. It will gradually lighten over time due to exposure to the sun and UV rays. When the wood has lightened to a light grey colour, it is time for a maintenance application. Clean the surface with Net-Trol and then apply Deks Olje D1 until the wood is saturated and the finish restored, usually 1 or 2 applications will be sufficient. RestrictionsDeks Olje D1 is a highly saturating hardwood oil with a clear matt finish that is perfect for use both above and below the waterline. It drives out moisture and air from within the wood and fills the pores with oil. This enriches and stabilises the wood to provide long-lasting protection.
