About this deal

I particularly loved the chapters about Type I and Type II diabetes (even if you don't have it, chances are someone in your life might have it or develop it later in life) and about female physiology and PCOS. Described by The Times as "one of the most sought-after personal trainers in the world", Smith is best known for his frank social media presence, which has attracted a significant following.

This is why I follow him and happily bought a book that rehashed so much of what I already knew, and why I highly recommend his program to all of the people. My personal view is it is a helpful, informative good read that would ultimately benefit from a deficit of James.Like many people, I find his rants on social media entertaining because he gets so worked up about what other people are telling him to do. He is also known for his best selling books which help readers level-up their fitness knowledge and become their best self.

You will not come away from this book with a new fad eating plan that's guaranteed to burn the fat into lean muscle overnight without lifting a finger, just eat this one mystery food every day at 3:29PM and watch the fat melt/burn/evaporate/transfigure off like the magic it would be. By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file.

Having had no prior knowledge of his style or personality I approached the read with a skeptical yet open mind. Also wouldn't it have been logical to do an ebook (which he constantly tells us he has also do to reach as many people as possible/make as much money as possible lol), see how it goes then do a real book. Then a chapter dedicated to the author's rather unremarkable life story, and currently running through a chapter on why the different main stream diets don't work.

I checked out his Insta profile and if I’d done this first I probably wouldn’t have bought this book. to learn what your daily energy expenditure and calorie needs look like, and then work with those numbers to create a sensible, reasonable deficit that will result in losing fat. He gives facts without losing me in the science, his analogies are so clear, and there is not an excess of boring examples - it’s such a great balance of info. P.s I read this in the dark every night which trying to sooth a toddler to sleep and many nights sat there whilst she was fast asleep as i was so absorbed by the easy style in which this book is written. In his own crude and vulgar way James Smith goes about dismantling a locker rooms worth of fitness and health myths.I’ve got a lot to digest from this book, but one key thing for sure is the power of NEAT and you’ll bet I’ll be standing up a lot more on the tube going forward and allowing myself those sweet treats I always crave in the evening. The book didn't advise me on ways of how to do this because James knows it would be a fruitless exercise, but he does instill a confidence in you to build a plan and a framework to start this, and to knuckle down and wait for the results. It's more of an inspirational, educational, self-helpy kind of book with a lot of nutritional and fitness science thrown in for good measure. It was one of two hardbacks in the Most-Sold: Fiction list, the other being Charlie Mackesy's The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse (Ebury).
