About this deal

A lot of the technology used in the folding SX-70 cameras was later used in the production of rigid "box" type SX-70 cameras, such as the Model 1000 OneStep, Pronto, Presto and The Button. These models, although also utilizing SX-70 film, are very different from the folding SLR SX-70s. Plummer, William T., "Unusual optics of the Polaroid SX-70 Land camera", Appl. Opt. 21, 196-208 (1982) The Land Camera 1000 is an instant camera manufactured by Polaroid Corporation. In the United States, it was marketed as the OneStep. Based on the Polaroid SX-70, the camera includes a one element 103mm f/14.6 plastic lens, fixed focus and an exposure compensation dial knob. It uses the SX-70 time zero film. There is a flash specifically made for this model: the Q-light flash. They had two unique shutter colors: red and green. If you prefer to take monochrome pictures you can use the Polaroid B&W Film for SX-70 *.

Polaroid Now (2020) – automatically selects between two fixed-focus lenses: standard (102.35 mm) and portrait (95 mm); dedicated double exposure button [14] [15] I enjoyed experimenting with this old camera and the Impossible film, but with a price of €2,50 per photo, it can become an expensive hobby. This might be the reason why Impossible users seem to be found mostly within artistic circles, while the more casual instant shooters use the cheaper and more developed Fuji Instax film and cameras like the Lomo’Instant. Lately, The Impossible Project has introduced a new enhanced version of their film, so I will be continuing my experiments with this old Polaroid camera!

Polaroid I-2 review: The best instant camera doesn't come cheap". DPReview . Retrieved September 25, 2023. The original cameras folded into the body and used bellows to protect the light path. The film was put on two spools, one with the negative roll, and one with the positive paper and reagent pods. The film developed inside the camera. The exception to this is the Polaroid Swinger, a hard-bodied roll-film camera whose film was pulled out of the camera body to develop outside the camera. The film for roll-film cameras was discontinued in 1992. There were a variety of models beginning in 1972 with the original SX-70, though all shared the same basic design. The first model had a plain focusing screen (the user was expected to be able to see the difference between in- and out-of focus) because Dr. Land wanted to encourage photographers to think they were looking at the subject, rather than through a viewfinder. When many users complained that focusing was difficult, especially in dim light, a split-image rangefinder prism was added. This feature is standard on all later manual focus models. [2]Sonar Autofocus – Labelled as both Pronto! and OneStep models, but usually with an AF or Sonar moniker. The Land Camera 1000 is a foreign-market version of the original Onestep model, meaning it has a fixed focus plastic lens. The model 1000 or original OneStep models are distinguished among the range. They were made available with 2 different coloured shutter buttons – either green or red; there is some debate among collectors as to which was more common. A matching electronic flash was also released for the Onestep/1000 model, known as the Q-Light. It fits onto any SX-70 non-folding camera model but was cosmetically matched to the original models. Features common to the series of OneStep non-folding, fixed-focus SX70-series integral film cameras are:

Taking pictures with the instant camera is easy. Aim at the subject through the viewfinder, press the red shutter button and out comes the picture. The Spectra has an image area of 2.9 × 3.6 in² (73 × 91mm²) and a total area of 4.05 × 4.0 in² (103 × 102mm²). [1] Manipulation of the photograph is best done about two minutes after the picture has fully developed. It will stay soft and workable for about 5–15 minutes. Some colors will be more difficult to work on (dark green), whereas others are workable for a long time (red). If the photograph is on a warm surface or slightly warmed in an oven, image manipulation is made easier. Although various models were offered, all share the same basic design. All SX-70 models feature a folding body design, a 4-element 116mm f/8 glass lens, and an automatic exposure system known as the Electric Eye. The cameras allow for focusing as close as 10.4 inches (26.4cm), and have a shutter speed range from 1/175 s to more than 10 seconds. The Model 3 departs from the other models since it isn't a SLR, but instead has the viewfinder cut into the mirror hood.

As I said from the start, I freaking love this camera. But I think it’s incredibly important for those jumping into the Polaroid SX-70, or any Polaroid in general, to have realistic expectations of results. Vasani, Sheena (September 7, 2023). The Land Camera is a model of self-developing film camera manufactured by Polaroid between 1948 and 1983. It is named after the inventor, American scientist Edwin Land, who developed a process for self-developing photography between 1943 and 1947. [1] After Edwin Land's retirement from Polaroid in 1982, the name 'Land' was dropped from the camera name. [2] The first commercially available model was the Model 95, [3] which produced sepia-colored prints in about 1 minute. [4] It was first sold to the public on November 26, 1948. If you’re a lover of auto-focus, the sonar models are worth looking into. But, there’s always magic in watching an image unfold in front of your eyes. To me, it’s worth it. I’ve even started incorporating Polaroids into my client work, which has been a big hit! In my opinion, it’s the best Polaroid camera out there, AND it will always be a conversation piece whenever you pull one out. If you’re into aesthetics, the design of the SX-70 Land Camera truly cannot be beat. It’s the most beautiful camera out there, especially when it comes to instant cameras.
