About this deal

Good book, especially for people that are just starting university and who may need a good "tutorial" for learning a solid reading and writing method. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. The second edition of this leading guide helps students to develop reflective thinking skills, improve their critical analysis and construct arguments more effectively. Ideal for students who are mystified by lecturer comments such as 'more analysis needed', this title takes the art of analysis and breaks it down into easy-to-understand blocks, with clear explanations, good examples, and plenty of activities to develop understanding at each stage. I found that a lot of it was really just common sense, but the book spells out what common sense actually is in the context of responding to written arguments, which is helpful and made me realise quite how much is involved in a process that I previously took for granted.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Finding and evaluating sources of evidence -- Critical reading and note-making: critical selection, interpretation and noting of source material -- Critical, analytical writing: critical thinking when writing -- Where's the analysis? The exercises are great as they underpin the knowledge and its surprising how much you take in as you work your way through each chapter.
