About this deal
The book is beautifully written, the card meanings are RWS based but in Tillie’s own words and I love it. For example, the Star of The Cosmic Slumber Tarot delights me because Walden’s Star is a real woman who radiates comfort and tranquility.
Accompanying the deck is a hardcover little white book that fits into the slipcase box that provides a nice introduction to the cards for any beginners. It's like she used bright pastel colors and then muted that, can't really explain since I'm no artist haha) watercolor designs that are descriptive, clearly hand painted/hand drawn while still having great detail.
It also means the court cards, which I normally find to be the least intuitive part of a deck, feel particularly significant.
While an entire page is devoted to each Major, above you’ll see that card meanings for the Minors are greatly condensed. I am not usually a big lover of that much burst of vibrant colours, but what you did really work to find it a place in my heart. Application of color also means your eyes travel from the pants, up to the hair, and then to the two torches in the upper third of the canvas. You can feel the artwork here paying homage to Pamela Colman Smith, reimagined with a fresh perspective, even richer color saturation, and updated for the 21st century.Whether you are nurturing your energy, or listening to the universe for advice for the next adventure, The Cosmic Slumber is there to guide you beyond the stars! Excerpts and links may be used, provided that full and clear credit is given to Asali Earthwork with appropriate and specific direction to the original content. Maybe these two cards can be used in a manner similar to significator cards, but for timing, as a way of using tarot to help you plan a schedule. There are so many more aspects of the deck that I could delve into, like the Court cards, a more extensive look at suit color schemes, or an extended comparison of the Lovers and the Devil, but I won’t.
