About this deal

In conclusion, Inside 25 Cromwell Street is a book that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. Fred and Rose West truly felt that they could do whatever they wanted in their home, away from prying eyes. The book is certainly not for the faint-hearted, and the descriptions of the crimes are graphic and disturbing. And as it did, so the nightmarish hell that had been allowed to breed behind closed doors crossed those final barriers.

Mae and Stephen West’s parents were two of Britain’s most notorious serial killers, Fred and Rose West, who brutally tortured and murdered 12 people, including two of their own children. The book is written in Stephen and Mae West’s own words which were taken from detailed interviews with the News Of The World newspaper.

Stephen was close at times to his father but had to grow up so fast neither realished the horror under there feet and both seem really upset about there fathers actions.

But for those who wish to know the further gruesome details, I would recommend Colin Wilson's 'The Corpse Garden'.The book was evidently complied shortly after the death of Fred West in jail so the events are all so raw - and this shows in the interviews. This book details a story more fitting to a Hollywood horror movie or dark British drama - but it is real.

Although the section includes nowhere near as many of the gritty details surrounding Fred and Rose’s crimes, it still delivers one heck of a shocking punch – exposing the real emotional trauma to what happened and how Stephen and Mae tried to come to terms with what was now being uncovered in their own home. It takes the reader through the early stages of Fred’s obsession with sex, how his perversions developed and inevitably turned towards his own offspring. I don’t think this was ever meant to be a work of literary genius, but merely a life lived in the home of some of Britain’s worst serial killers.Tbh what I can't understand is HOW Mae still visits Rose and how mae +stephen have written this story sympathising with Rose +fred also. They were inhabiting a living hell - a highly sexualised environment where extreme violence and sexual abuse was the norm. What went on in the house was truly disturbing, and I can't help but find the pair of them a bit naive, knowing what happened as they do but then genuinely supporting their parents and thinking their mother, Rose was innocent. Nevertheless, this is a superb chance to try to understand the torture and torment that the West's victims suffered.

Indeed, when a man came to visit ‘Mandy’, the children would know that they would have to occupy themselves for a number of hours whilst their mother looked after the visitor. I understand that the love of your parents stays with you forever, but I cannot agree with the steadfast way Stephen and Mae stand by their mother and father regardless of what they have done. So in many ways, these kids did not stand a chance against the brutality they endured at the hands of their parents. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Inside 25 Cromwell Street reads initially as excerpts from interviews of two of Fred and Rose West's children, later shifting into what seems to be journal entries during the trial of Rose West, followed by a comprehensive timeline of events and examples of letters written to the authors from their parents in jail. But I think Fred and Rose did a lot of killings and torture when Mae and Stephen were ASLEEP so they dont actually know the extent of it all as they didn't see it.
