About this deal

The Superior also has the excellent Lead By Example ability that lets her activate a nearby friendly operative (so that you get two activations in a row) if the Superior performs a mission action or incapacitates an enemy operative. This and the very good 3+ Save of the Superior makes her a Leader that should always lead from the front lines. Novitiate Militant (9 allowed per Kill Team)

Blessed Rejuvenation–For two points regain D3 lost wounds on a friendly Novitiate model. You can do this twice during an activation, potentially healing 2D3 (and this faction has a medic as well). This is great, and can be used to heal a model to lose penalties for being injured, and to make heal models your opponent has failed to kill. You know’em you love’em folks. Always strong choices on a team that has no other Indirect options. I would not recommend taking both, but almost always an auto-include of one depending on your opponent’s team comp In an ideal world the game would be perfectly balanced if every faction had a 50% win rate, but in practice this is very difficult to achieve. Therefore we aim for every faction’s win rate to sit between 45-55%. The usual 8 wound, pistol/melee weapon, and better at hitting/wounding leader option. The Superior has less options than those you’ll find on other teams, but that is largely irrelevant since she has the best option in the form of a Plasma Pistol AND Power Weapon. Additionally, she has the team’s only source of group activation thanks to her Lead By Example ability that allows a visible operative within ⬟ to be activated after her, IF she performs a Mission Action or Incapacitates an enemy operative. This can make the ability difficult to use, but has the potential to set up particularly deadly combinations, and is much easier to use on Close Quarters missions. As a final treat she has a 3+ armor save thanks to wearing power armor. Novitiate Penitent Even more fun is their upgrade sprue, which houses enough parts to make 10 distinct kinds of operative, ranging from the relic-bearing Novitiate Pronatus to the Novitiate Exactor with her twin neural whips.Novitiates come with a strong set of useful equipment, so strong in fact, that one item in particular was so good that it amounted to a team-wide reroll 1s to hit ability. This item had its cost doubled in a balance data-slate, but is that enough to give the rest of the inventory a chance to shine? Do you dream of dousing your enemies in righteous flames? Are you a die-hard convert to the Emperor? Is your armor made of faith? Then the Novitiates Kill Team may be the choice for you. If you choose that loadout, the Plasma Pistol is a good choice for its high damage and AP1 value. The Power Weapon is great as you’ll do good damage with it all the time (it hits on a 2+ and scores critical hits on a 5+). Your standard trainee Battle Sister that you could fill your team with if you wanted (but let’s face it you don’t), you choose between an autopistol and novitiate blade or an autogun and gun butt. Autoguns are 2/3 damage, so unless you are using ploys they’re doing lasgun damage, reasonable against guard equivalents but just scratching the paintwork on marine level enemies. Gun butts do the standard butt damage of 2/3 on three dice hitting on 4+, but Novitiate Blades are better than Astartes chainswords on 4 dice, 3+ to hit and 4/5 damage with Balanced. So that’s a reroll baked into the weapon. I would say making your selection for Novitiate’s is actually the toughest kill team roster to make choices from in the game.

You can reveal this when one of your operatives is incapacitated close to an objective marker, and then you score a Victory Point whenever another friendly operative is also incapacitated there. All this means that if your Penitent can survive long enough to get into engagement range of anything (which gets easier if you pair it with an Exactor, see below), all hell breaks loose. Novitiate Pronatus (1 allowed per Kill Team) The Novitiate Superior is the Leader of the Novitiate Kill Team, and she can be equipped with either a Boltgun or a Bolt/Plasma Pistol plus a Power Weapon. The Boltgun is pretty good due to the Superior’s Ballistic Skill of 2+, but since she also has a Weapon Skill of 2+ you might as well go with a pistol/melee weapon combo for maximum versatility. The Novitiates are Battle Sisters-in-training, full of youthful zeal and a burning desire to prove themselves worthy of joining their power-armoured comrades. Their main sprue can be used to assemble a full team equipped with either autoguns or autopistols and razor-sharp swords, led by an experienced Sister Superior. The Reliquarius is the standard bearer of the Novitiate Kill Team. It has the Icon of Purity ability which lets one nearby incapacitated friendly operative perform a free Shoot action before they go down on a dice roll of 4+, and the Plant the Icon Unique Action which subtracts 1 from the Action Point Limit of nearby enemy operatives when you’re next to an objective marker.

2. This is NOT a core box

Faith points are a great source of additional plots for Novitiates, and can be used to swing critical combats or defence rolls to either win or keep your models alive. Tac Ops However, Autogun Militants are your only potential source of weapons with a Range that’s longer than pentagon/6 inches outside of the Novitiate Condemnor, so if you want to play defensively and snipe at your opponents, the Novitiate Militant is one of your best options for that. Novitiate Penitent (1 allowed per Kill Team) Range – Being heavy on pistols also means that the team has a pretty short range. And though you have ways to get around that with ploys, it’ll still cost you.

All of this fervour and piety does actually pay off, you see. The more zealous your Novitiates are in the prosecution of their duties – skulking around, sneaking about, covertly chunking enemy operatives with giant swords – the more points you earn to spend on Acts of Faith. And what do faith points mean? Re-rolls and extra crits. Devotion pays dividends. This makes the Preceptor a great candidate for leading a melee-focused squad into combat, swinging its mace and singing hymns to inspire its comrades. Novitiate Condemnor (1 allowed per Kill Team) Of course, our brave Novitiates also have plenty of exclusive wargear they can collect on their travels. We’re particular fans of the Auto-chastiser, which lets you re-roll as many 1s as you like. Of course, if you roll more 1s, you take mortal wounds. The God-Emperor giveth, and He taketh away… Its melee weapon, the Null Rod, has the Stun critical rule, and the Condemnor has the Null Rod ability which limits enemy operatives to an Action Point Limit of 2 when close to the Condemnor, which is great for stopping Space Marines and other big guys from taking objectives. Null Rod also raises the Action Point cost of making psychic actions while you’re close to the Condemnor. This tac op is based on three of your models dying trying to hold the same objective. Conceivably you could score this if someone takes out three of your models in a group with a blast weapon trying to hold an objective, revealing it after the first model is rolled for and removed, and then scoring VPs as the blast is resolved. I do feel that any Tac Op dependent on 30% of your team dying in a 2” bubble around a single objective is not a good one to take. Playing with these Tac Ops

Ploys

With the armor base coated, it’s time to paint the details. Use smaller brushes to carefully paint the different elements of the model, such as the robes, weapons, and accessories. Here are some suggested paint colors for the details: There’s also a brand new Battle Report between the Grey Knights and the Aeldari. We already know that the mighty Avatar of Khaine is almost unstoppable. How will the legendary daemonhunters fare against one?
