About this deal

I am tempted to dissect a copy and scan it into several PDF files to make it more manageable for daily travel ~ (maybe on a monthly or seasonal basis) - Unfortunately it is not offered in any e-formats of PDF or Kindle versions to my knowlege. As well as the Daily Office, there are four original Communion services, along with liturgies and prayers that have emerged out of real-life experiences of seeking God in many differing contexts throughout the world. Having this e-version makes life so much easier whenever I go away, and also means that my physical copies won’t fall apart. Saint’s Day February 1st: Brigid (450-523)Eight years before the death of Patrick (see March 17th), a girl was born to a pagan Irish chieftain and a Christian slave woman from the land of the Picts. We are almost done our 31 day prayer challenge, and I’ve been waiting to introduce you to Celtic Daily Prayer.

Based in Northumberland, Northern England, the community connects people dispersed across the globe. Many (especially those whose church tradition usually scorns such gestures) find that making the sign of the cross at this juncture helps to reinforce the significance of the words. After the scripture readings and meditations, there is an opportunity to pray whatever is on your mind and heart, offering to God the concerns of the day, your personal needs and prayers for other people. We have used it as a family around the table, as a church for weekend retreats, as well as for personal prayer times.the Kindle Celtic Daily Prayer has been great as we have shared it so we can all see the same morning prayer page.

The Northumbria Community is a dispersed network of people, hugely diverse, from different backgrounds, streams and edges of the Christian faith, united in their desire to embrace and express an ongoing exploration into a new way for living. Great resource for daily prayer and meditation, all helpfully set out for the different times of the day on the kindle, making it very easy to access the prayers on the go. For this reason it is short, and can be prayed in the time it takes to boil a kettle, especially if committed to memory. The Community also uses a quarterly Prayer Guide (contact Ellen or Charlotte in the Community Office).I'm a busy catholic benedictine mother of a three year old boy so time is of the essence when trying to fit Offices into my day. The first in a two-volume collection of liturgies, prayers and meditations from the Northumbria Community, inspired by ancient Celtic Christianity, but reaching out to bring inspiration and comfort to all today who seek to be still and to find spiritual truth.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. We load an article each month entitled Daily Readings during…… which provides information on the selected readings for the current month. At Nether Springs, the mother house of the Community, the Office is said or sung at set times in the chapel; when Companions in the Community meet together, saying the Office can be a routine part of the meeting; and individuals and families can use it in their homes as part of daily life. When there is no information about the particular needs of the persons, families and situations brought to mind, the following prayer is helpful: These dear ones, O Lord, bless Thou and keep in every place where they are. The e-book has app-like features and includes the Daily Prayer and Compline liturgies, the Meditations for the Day from Book 2 and all four years of Daily Readings from Books 1 and 2. It also provides a two-year cycle of insights and daily reflections with accompanying scripture readings for use in morning and evening prayer. The digital version also includes the Scripture inline with the text, AND music audio for each of the sung liturgies. The Office can be said anywhere, but, for Morning and Evening Prayer, it is recommended that a quiet place, as free from interruptions as possible, is chosen.
