The Court cards are my least favorite part of this deck, but for me that’s pretty par for the course. The art is appealing with some very beautiful cards such as the Empress, which features on the front of the box.There is a detailed explanation of each card, with space for writing down your notes of the exercises that have been given for the cards. The New Mythic Tarot book explains everything you need to know to become an accomplished tarot reader. The Minor Arcana are presented in the form of stories that accompany each of the four suits, each relating to a different sphere of life.

Tricia Newell's original artwork has been recreated for the New Mythic by Giovanni Caselli (who also did the Sharman-Caselli illustrations). She is well-known as a teacher of tarot, and brings her teaching experience and knowledge of students to The Mythic Tarot. However, it takes a bit of time to fully grasp the deeper, involved aspects of the cards and their characters – so if you are looking to start reading with it right away, it might take some time to get that far. I would strongly recommend this deck to anyone who is looking to blend the mystic Greek mythology with current situations and find answers seeped into wisdom and depth of knowledge.

Retold here in concise and accessible form by Liz Greene and Juliet Sharman-Burke, these dramatic and exciting tales reveal profound truths that are reflected in every facet of our lives today. With charmingly naïve art by Tricia Newell, the original Mythic Tarot illuminates these deceptively simple tales of Greek gods and heroes once again. However, I had a sudden interest in the tarot not long ago and found out I could use the equivalent of my deck on my iPad. Illustrated by tarot artist Giovanni Caselli, the cards depict the archetypal characters of the Greek myths, whose experiences perfectly reflect the deeper patterns of our lives today. Orestes and the curse on his family are explored through the Swords (and I really appreciate how this deck doesn’t try to downplay the conflicts of this suit or the story).
