About this deal

M. Logan is an unputdownable thriller in which each chapter changes the meaning of what came before, keeping the reader guessing until the jaw-dropping finale.

Another thing that propelled me through this rather-thick-for-a-thriller book: the promise of a twist. And because he is in the tech industry, his knowledge of computers and other devices is far superior to Joe’s and allows him to embroil Joe is a dangerous cat-and-mouse game. And the inclusion of a mini-cliffhanger at the conclusion of almost every chapter made it difficult to put down. What starts as familiar psychological thriller territory with a split second decision results in unprecedented upheaval in the life of the Lynch family.Honestly, Joe acts like he is punch drunk, reeling from one disclosure to the next technology headache, from spyware, tracking devices, Bluetooth, forensic analysis of text messaging right through to metadata (“data about data”). Because this was a character-driven thriller — one in which you had one main character, fighting not just for his liberty but, perhaps, even for his life — a lot of how successful it was or wasn't hinged on whether you cared about said character. I’ve heard raves of this book from friends across the pond and early readers here in the US alike, but my reading experience was unfortunately less than stellar. The fabric of our lives can seem so thin when it is suddenly pulled out from under us, never more so than when it has been woven with lies, one overlapping another.

When I reach a book’s twist, I want to be totally shocked, and I also want to be able to look back and see how cleverly the author hinted at that solution throughout the book without me even noticing. As Joe goes deeper into his investigation of his own personal life, it begins to appear that someone is threatening him - and that they are using the anonymity of social media to do so without repercussion.Moving between past and present, ALL THE DANGEROUS THINGS delves into the darkest corners of the life of one mother as she investigates the disappearance of her son one year prior—and, in the process, confronts long-buried secrets from her own childhood. Joe's wife, Mel, admits the affair and even though she says she is very sorry for all that has happened, Joe doesn not trust her anymore. Or so it seems, and whilst niggling doubts force Joe to continually question the evidence and just what he is seeing, he is unable to turn back the clock and once the genie is of out the bottle the collateral damage is only a matter of time. When protagonist Joe Lynch spots his wife in a heated argument with her best friend’s husband, this chance encounter sets in motion a series of increasingly sinister events… Joe’s marriage quickly begins to unravel, and revelations come to light that suggest his beloved wife has been hiding life-altering secrets from her spouse. After losing sight of his wife briefly Joe manages to find her inside the building talking with a family friend, only the conversation looks to be quite intense.
