About this deal

For best comfort we recommend posting the cap on the back of the pen as intended by the manufacturer. Kaweco was founded in 1883 as the Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik (Heidelberg dip pen factory) with the Kaweco name being first used in 1889. Kaweco has used a variety of different ballpoint formats over the years, including a Kaweco Sport “Luxe” version (now discontinued) that featured a clip and a twist mechanism.

The Kaweco Sport long ago solidified its status as one of the best pocket pens available, and most of the attention (deservedly) falls on the fountain pen version of the Sport. Kaweco fans will immediately recognize the traditional octagonal extended cap of the Sport, and the exclusive blue edition is identical in design, except for a silver Goldspot logo opposing the standard Kaweco logo. when closed, but when the cap is mounted on top of the barrel they grow into a 13cm long, standard-sized pen, hence the slogan: "Small in the pocket, large in the hand". Ebonite is a type of natural rubber, and it has a warm, luxurious feel in the hand unlike any other material. Als perfekte Ergänzung zum Schreibgerät gibt es passende Ersatzminen, elf farbenfrohe Tinten sowie Clips zum Aufschieben in Gold, Bronze, Silber und Schwarz. To prevent galling, we recommend applying a small amount of silicone grease to the threads between the grip section and barrel, especially on the raw aluminum AL Sport. The drop clutch mechanism releases the lead with a push of a button, and lets you choose what length of lead to have extended.

Bronze is not rare, so I assume the reason why this will not be a permanent addition to the line up is because Kaweco have either procured a limited supply of bronze or expect cost of the raw material to rise. The grip itself is smooth plastic, but the cap threading provides a bit of extra grip to keep it from slipping between fingers. The affordable resin model comes in a huge range of colours from the Classic Bordeaux to the transparent Ice and Skyline mint. The nib is literally the same one as I used in the Kaweco Dia2 I reviewed, as between the three nibs that came with the two pens, only one was an original Kaweco branded 060. Born from rigorous German engineering and design in 1935 as an unassuming plastic fountain pen, the Sport has since added gel pens, ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, and clutch pencils to the family.
