About this deal

Better still is the fact that power for the device will be drawn from the host if it’s plugged into the mains, so if you absolutely must use a USB hub for whatever reason, a Xone mixer/K2 combo won’t be swallowing precious power. These discounts are usually communicated through newsletters, which are created and managed by us with the tool "Emarsys".

The Xone:K2 is also equipped with a high-quality four-channel (2 stereo) 48kHz audio interface, this allows you to use the K2 controller alongside a pair of headphones for monitoring your tracks or alternatively you can feed audio through a PA system or connect it to an external DJ mixer. This is super cool, because it means that all you have to do if you go to a venue that has an X-Link enabled mixer is plug the mixer in instead of your K2, and the K2 into the mixer, and things will operate exactly as if it were in standalone with all the advantages of keeping a single MIDI I/O to your software.

It was the 1st edition of the Kontrol X1 and I still have it many years later and I still love how it works. There’s certainly a lot more you can do with the Xone K2 though, and so when I downsized my set up I thought this would be a great option to tackle everything I needed in a controller. Plug-ins that support MIDI Learn can also be controlled from the Xone:K2 so you can get creative with your delays, reverbs and modulation effects, and take full control of your software synths and virtual instruments. It’s not as loud as an NI card, but it’s definitely loud enough and the latency keeps pace just fine.

You’ll always want a control where there isn’t one, or the ability to label up things once you’re happy with them (a wipe-clean overlay would be a nice accessory, guys). X:LINK uses a standard RJ45 connector and distributes power and data, allowing connection to X:LINK compatible devices, including Xone:DB4 and DB2, to expand MIDI data without using additional USB ports. You agree to comply with all such regulations, and acknowledge that it is your responsibility to obtain all licences to export, re-export, or import the Software. Note, certain features like Reverse Mode, Mixer FX Selectors, and Mixer FX are not available in Traktor Pro 2. Xone:K2 is a compact, slim line universal MIDI controller incorporating a 4 channel sound card, for use with any DJ software. The only think that I don't like is the built in sound card due to it's driver and also it doesn't have good latency. I really want to know with all those lights, whether the output level has been compromised as it is USB powered to.

Size wise the K2 dwarfs the X1, and the build quality is more impressive too; nutted pots add stability and durability whilst the buttons have a more responsive feel. For this DJ set I recorded a Controller view camera angle too, so you folks can see what I’m doing, or at least maybe try to figure out what I’m doing. We also provide example maps to get you started out the box and information on how to set up your own.Xone:K2 can even be used to control lights or VJ software – if it can receive MIDI data it can take commands from K2. With no fewer than 52 hardware controls providing up to 171 MIDI commands across 3 layers plus the ability to link multiple units using X:LINK, saving USB ports on your computer Xone:K2 has the power and flexibility to put you in touch with the functions and features of your chosen software. That is to say it won’t appear as a separate device in your software, but its MIDI mapping remains exactly the same. I don’t agree with arguing over whether 16-bit or 24-bit audio is best – this is 16-bit audio, but other factors (rest of equipment chain, quality of recordings, understanding gain staging, venue acoustics, more esoteric technical info such as frequency range and response, signal to noise etc) have a much bigger bearing on sound quality from an audio interface than arguing over digital bitrates. You must permit us and our representatives, at all reasonable times and on reasonable advance notice, to inspect and have access to any premises at which the Software or the Documentation is being kept or used, to the Products and other relevant computer equipment located there, and to any records kept pursuant to this Licence, for the purpose of ensuring that you are complying with the terms of this Licence.

The latching layers system will connect all of the controls, and the controls can change colour depending on which layer you're using as a visual reminder. In short, the K2 does everything the X1 does and more, so unless you have a burning desire to keep everything NI the K2 is a better choice for transport and effects control. UK LTD is an appointed representative of The Guitar Amp and Keyboard Centre Limited which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Quick and simple mapping lets you create a unique layout that mirrors your style and puts the functions that matter at your fingertips, whilst 3 colour illuminating switches give at-a-glance feedback - allowing you to work however you decide.
