I bought this book as my son has just started preschool where they will be using the Jolly Phonics system of learning to read. I have also purchased the Jolly Phonics books 1 - 7, these are also good as they have pictures which they can colour in and practice their writing of the letters - would recommend the DVD especially if your child is learning Jolly Phonics! I use this book with my group of phonics children, they are reception aged children and combined with being lower ability they really need something fun and something they can join in with. Each double page spread has a letter sound with a story involving the Jolly Phonics characters of Inky, Snake and Bee.

Tub contains 2 each of the 42 letter sounds, 4 each of the vowels a, e , i and o, 6 each of m and d.

Arranged in the seven groups as taught in "Jolly Phonics", each letter sounds has an illustration that prompts the acrion and sound. The stories in the book feature words that are spelled regularly, and can be sounded out with the 42 letter sounds first taught in Jolly Phonics.Thus making it a good starting point for any parent who doesn’t know much about phonics (I was thought to read through whole word approach). I now believe this item is out of print and may not be reprinted, so its unlikely this seller has any of tese books to sell, even though it is still listed as being available. It has a really sweet story which goes with each letter sound, and really bright colourful pictures.

Jolly phonics is an excellent synthetic phonics program to teach reading, but this video is extremely old and not at all entertaining to today's children. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you!This scheme has been very heavily promoted recently in Northern Ireland and I have some concerns that it has been oversold. With three lively series in each level, children are able to practise their phonic skills while developing key reading skills.
