About this deal

Allan, 34, tell of his fours years as a member of the notoriously violent Aberdeen Casuals football gang during the early 1980s and his three months in jail for attacking fellow hooligans. It wasn't just us, it was a whole youth culture movement, sadly the youth of today are too wrapped up in computer games to ever invent a casual/acid house/rave culture of their own, I was proud to be part of it, didn't realise at the time granted that I was part of one. Mention the words “rebellion” to most science fiction fans, and they’ll immediately think of Star Wars. With their clothes, their accents, even the way they moved and carried themselves, those Everton fans seemed like they were a completely different species to us. I have this vague, half-formed theory that most human beings, or maybe men in particular, have this ability to perform shocking acts of violence and/or bravery, given the right circumstances.

Now the landlord of the Ythanview Hotel in Methlick, he's usually happy to talk about his moment of fame! me and 20 others are chasing 30 mods and skinheads up some side road - might as well waste them too. Seems that he has written another book but this time nothing to do with the ASC other than there seems to be fighting involved. As we all know at that time the ' Gorgie Aggro ' were still there or thereabouts but it wasn't until after Hibs in April 85 at Tynecastle that the violence on the terraces and on the streets took a back seat from then on in leaving the casuals to try an emulate the Aberdeen and Motherwell lads. However, unruly behavior had been rife at English soccer matches before the First World War and had never died out completely (Dunning, Murphy, and Williams 1988, 32-90). Didn't particularly want to but the Sheepie who gave me it said I'd be interested in the parts about Hearts.

Pretty much said "Hearts think their hard, lets give them a pasting next week" and it was signed by Aberdeen Soccer Casuals. We’re working on some new stuff for that story right now, and I’m pretty happy with how that turned out. I gather there are a couple of well written and illuminating accounts out there amid a sea of dross. Human Kinetics print books and eBooks are now distributed by Mare Nostrum, throughout the UK, Europe, Africa and Middle East, delivered to you from their warehouse. Definitely happened as an older friend told me about the bother at the back of the West Terracing (Mount Florida) where he was on the receiving end of an undeserved scudding.can still remember the games i used to go to in that era, fecking mental the hearts fans were , afraid of no one and not many other clubs fans enjoyed a visit to gorgie when playing us at tynie, what were the 2 songs they used to sing ,"come and have a go with the gorgie agarro" and "your gonna get your fecking heads kick in", never got involved in any of it though. Where did you get the idea for Rebellion’s Fury and how different is the finished novel from that original concept? I’m a history buff and always have been, so I was, of course, interested in various rebellions and the like. there are a lot of blokes who've been drawn to hooliganism precisely because they're very violent and who are fearsome fighters.

And Pittodrie has been home to so many people for so many years, it would be such a shame to lose both. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. It doesn't glorify anything and he shows his shame for being an idiot but no real huge apology for it. The only thing that linked the two was they happened, for this brief moment in history, to be together at the same time and place.

I have never lived in Edinburgh (10 miles south) but a decent part of our support is from outside the city.We were heading up to Fyvie Castle to attend a Vintage Car Rally and a family friend and (ex neighbour) was meeting up with us for our evening meal. What fascinates and disturbs me about the football firms is that there does seem to be an element of intelligent relatively normal people who are able to treat it purely as a sport one level removed from rugby or martial arts but with a much bigger adrenaline kick and who confine their violence to the "game" without the random episodes of loss of control in life in general typical of the psychos. For us he said "don't really have a lot of casuals - but they don't need to because their ordinary fans, of all ages, are crazy. Joe Haldeman… The Forever War has had its share of praise for many things, but to me at 14 or 15, it was probably the best example of writing that made you feel like you were there, in the story.
