In just a moment the ambergris enters the blend with a very noticeable note, earthy, slightly mineral, and musky animalic; the salt enhances this note. Smells quite jasmine-ish to me in the top and middle note with a hint of boozy whiskey note and a slight saltiness to it and as for the dry down, it smells warm and amber-ry. id definitely complete my family of the three, it will be awesome for summers as well as winter nights, for youngsters and flirty people. It contains notes of orange blossom, black pepper, vibrant wood, malt accord, salted black amber and ambergris.
Wouldn't use it during the hottest months of the year (too heavy) but does work well the rest of the year, particularly in cool weather. This smells very good, one thing stands in its way from being great for me is the intensely (hence the name) salty/aquatic nature of the fragrance. the drydown is ambery salty and maybe a little synthetic but thats a high quality synthetic for sure. I know everyone has their own opinions and I do understand that some people will not like this but for the vast majority who love Invictus regular will love the Intense flanker. For example, some top note citrus scents smell stronger immediately upon application, while a lavender middle note may be sensed after some time from application as the top note evaporates.I’m not really an Invictus fan, but this one flat out smells great to me, the original is too immature like bubble gum, but this replaces the gum with whiskey so it’s now more refined, mature and just perfect for me.
The most noticeable opening to dry-down changes in this fragrance is the mostly orange blossom and whiskey notes which are alone for a brief moment during the opening, these notes continue into the dry-down, however, the noticeable animalic ambergris and ambery develop towards the dry-down. Also this is the perfect example of what a intense version should be although I do love beast mode of all my favorites others do not so Invictus Intense is right in between. I personally don't see this perfume as a unisex fragrance as I feel it's way too strong for me to pull off, but that is my individual preference and a woman who is very very confident and enjoys strong man-eater perfumes could rock this. This is my clubbing perfume, sweet and seductive, but most importantly, in a jam packed nightclub with a 100 sweaty people, it still makes me smell good due to its strong sillage and lasts forever. To my nose, the "bubblegum" note isn't there as with the original which made the scent seem juvenile in a way.Scentwise I really consider this fragrance more like a reformulation of the original than a flanker or a new and different fragrance. I asked friends and collegue about both perfumes side by side and they seem to gravitate to the Invictus Intense. If I were to compare Eros Flame and Invictus Intense, the latter has more masculine smell not too much sweetness and Invictus Intense is the winner. If you have not had the pleasure of a great belgian ale, and are of age of course, you owe it to yourself. There is a new boozy note of Whisky (or malt) that you can perceive between the opening and the heart. Top notes are Orange Blossom and Black Pepper; middle notes are Whiskey and Laurels; base notes are Amber, Ambergris and Salt. Slowly sip and savor each beer on its own, and perhaps you'll see my comparing invictus to a Belgian blonde and the intestine version to a dark belgian ale.
Perfumes with natural ingredients often smell different in batches based on the source of the ingredients, while synthetic ingredients usually have consistency in their smell and lasts longer. As the minutes go by, the characteristic laurel note of the first versions is perceived, as well as a salty chord, but with amber always present, as well as a slight liquorous note. I pick up the whiskey notes in this and i feel its those notes, as well as "salty amber", which i also pick up, that make this fragrance more dense.
