About this deal

As for everyone else (since I do realize this review was somewhat self-centered), because this is discontinued, hard-to-find, and probably very expensive due to its scarcity, this may not be worth it for you, especially since there are plenty of close, not-so-discontinued fragrances that have the same vibe and a similarly pleasing scent profile.

I love the original aqua formulation and it is, indeed, a compliment getter, with a great longevity and an awesome yuzu - ambergris salty notes. I had no intention of ever adding it to my collection, my clubbing days being long gone in the rear view mirror.I have used this literally 6 times (mostly for trips to the beach) so my bottle is 95% full and since the performance is beast mode I usually apply two squirts and that's all. After I sprayed it on my hand ( only one spray ) about 10-15 minutes later my sister and her friend got home. Judging by some of the people and dodgy/dubious reviews here and even Just going by the pre voting and and the this reminds me of trolling on Fragrantica makes me inclined to think people that say the 2018 version smells better havnt even smelt the 2016 version! Still synthetic and generic, yet it is so appealing when it's in the air, definitely a crowd pleaser. Wear time is about the same as the original, so this is stuff potent stuff with hours of wear and good projection for at least half of that, it's just a far more general-purpose.

Never have I tested this fragrance, but based on all the notes and vivid, picturesque descriptions of it, I felt like this is could be the best of both worlds, not only fresh but also mass-appealing, being slightly sweet. I do go back and forth on this sometimes but then i take a break and 2 months go by and i smell it again and i'm like dang this is good. You still do get a little bit of that bubblegum sweetness in the backbone, but it's definitely not prominent. It's a very weak fragrance and if you're looking for a freshie then there are thousands that are better. This was first brought to my attention a while back watching one of Fragboy Stewie’s videos saying that it was his most complimented fragrance ever so this made me go out to sample it at John Lewis. I absolutely love the original invictus for an aquatic is a beast has amazing projection and last all day. I probably will still turn to my Manceras more this spring/summer for my violet fix, but this will certainly make it into my rotation. Perfumes with natural ingredients often smell different in batches based on the source of the ingredients, while synthetic ingredients usually have consistency in their smell and lasts longer.

This makes you slightly regret doing so with the aquatic elements so blantly stapled on like you're wearing a second cousin of Nautica Blue (2005), but such is the result of taking the left hand path of trying to take a niche fragrance inspired by designers and make a designer take on its vibe, which is some reach chicken and the egg thinking there. It is a marine scent, very cheap after shave like, watered down with a proeminent aquatic toilet product smell, also I smelled grass somehow instead of violets. As far as the scent bubble goes, I can barely smell it on myself for half an hour with occasional whiffs for another hour.

An Invictus Aqua (clear blue fade bottle) just dropped at my local Douglas in the Netherlands (Jan 2018). Although I don’t really like the synthetic sweet aquatic vibe this works well for a car freshener I always get complimented. It's fairly versatile, works best in the summer and spring in my opinion, that too mostly in the day. A final thought I have is that Aqua '16 can easily be worn year round, whereas, Aqua '18 is a true summer flanker.

This is a very good maybe the best club scent I’ve personally smelled, great for a younger crowd in my opinion. In the opening I get a soft marine vibe, hints of some citrus, and violet leaf, which for instances reminds me of L'homme Libre by YSL, (which is not bad). If you are mid 30's or under you could easily pull this off in any warm weather casual party or even a casual date. The strongest of these are the sea notes, keeping that fresh, watery feeling, followed by the violet giving it a powdery floral note and the ambergris giving it a warm, musky, and oceanic/salty note.
