This is a lovely book, with a nameless, lovable hero (I can imagine many children would delight in giving the pigeon a name) – perfect for that bedtime read. I had a parent come up to me thanking me for getting her son to read books that he wouldn’t usually pick up. I hate being the naysayer, but I think I liked the idea of this book more than I actually liked the book. The illustrated book Imagine follows one pigeon as she sets out on a journey to spread a message of hope and tolerance around the world.

It transports readers to home and working environments showcasing Yoko’s closely guarded archive of photos and artefacts, using artfully compiled narrative film stills, and featuring digitally rendered maps, floorplans and panoramas that recreate the interiors in evocative detail. I think it’s so important that everyone knows the themes of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and how everyone can live in peace no matter what. John and Yoko’s dream of people standing up for what they believe in and breaking down barriers is something we strongly admire at Amnesty International.When you mess around with absolutes, when you build your life on false truths, chances are that your mistakes will only multiply and escalate.
