About this deal

Just like many sports, hurling matches are played as part of a league, championship, or as a challenge.

The basic equipment you’ll need to play hurling is a hurl (the stick), a sliotar (the ball), and a helmet. The man credited with initial standardisation of the sliotar is Ned Treston (1862–1949) of Gort, County Galway.

If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. If you are a forward, you’ll want to be free from your man and in front of your man on the non-goalside.

The balls have been developed round the requirements by GAA Go Game initiative for children up to 12 years of age. Intermediate – this is a step above Junior hurling, but slightly below Senior hurling, where players are more skilled than Junior hurlers, but not skilled enough for Senior. Your foot placement should be the reverse of your hand placement, where your non-dominant foot is forward as the planted foot. However, some clubs don’t have enough players to field an intermediate team, so it’s not always an option to play at this level. This rule is for safety of a player, as an opposing player could swing on the sliotar and injure another players hand. A poc around (or puck around) is a casual hit-around between a group of players, in a non-gameplay setting. A poc fada (or puck fada) is a competition where players compete to hit the sliotar as far as they can to progress the ball through a 5 km outdoor course. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. A player can hold the sliotar in their hand for up to two sets of 4 steps each before they must release it from their possession.
