Shafrira Goldwasser ( Hebrew: שפרירה גולדווסר; born 1959 [5]) is an Israeli-American computer scientist and winner of the Turing Award in 2012.

Born in New York City, Goldwasser obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 1979 in mathematics and science from Carnegie Mellon. The beverage also includes herbs and spices such as cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, lavender, thyme, coriander and juniper, and has a syrupy texture. It starts with a base of neutral alcohol, to which a variety of herbs and spices are added, including anise, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and licorice. Alcoholic solutions were used by artists for gilding, which is believed to be the inspiration for the drink.

The drink was invented by a Dutchman from De Lier, Ambrosius Vermeulen who moved to Poland and became a citizen of Gdańsk on 6 July 1598. Since November 2016, Goldwasser has been serving as the chief scientist and co-Founder of Duality Technologies, a US-based start-up which offers secure data analytics using advanced cryptographic techniques.

Local legend (which abounds in Poland) states several murky tales about the invention of Goldwasser, mainly revolving around the god Neptune bestowing the delectable drink upon Gdansk's citizens.

To this day, this delicious gold liqueur remains a uniquely bitter sweet experience that glows in the splendor of this precious metal and which has lost none of its fascination.
