We follow both Andrea’s POV as she tries to protect the judge and solve Emily’s murder, and Emily’s as we learn what happened in the months leading up to her death. The deciding factor is likely going to come down to whether or not Andrea Oliver is a strong enough character to carry a series on her own.She is more confident and resilient than when she was still living above her mother’s garage, not sure what to do with her life. Her only emotional support is her Gram who unfortunately suffers from dementia and can’t protect Emily from the hardships she is enduring. I mostly love Karin Slaughter books and I liked pieces of her but I have no idea why she thought Andrea was a strong enough character to hold a sequel or interesting enough to warrant one. Emily Vaughn had a reputation of being a good girl but before her tragic death her life had changed.
