About this deal

The stop start refused to work, had numerous false fault lights on dash randomly which vcds said nff. I don't know how old your car is BUT the canbus system on VWs appear to be touchy on battery voltage. OP - First off check the Ground point on the drivers side strut tower, then take a good look round the loom for chafe points, with the engine running and the light off, get some one to watch it and give the loom and the plugs the "wiggle test" - which should be self explanatory, hopefully some part of it will cause the failure. If you have a DPF and the glowpug light is flashing that is saying it is doing a DPF regen, Try not to turn the engine off during this.

It just so happens that I was in traffic just after it started to regen, thats when I noticed the instant consumption rise to 0.I checked the pipes this morning and there is no blockage in them, could feel compressed air coming out of the back exhaust box. Just looked back through some live data that I did a while ago and found that it was 98% saturated and the differential voltage is 0. When the regeneration is ongoing, the rpm at idle stay at around 1000 and the start/stop is disabled.

Yeah to echo what ppl have said, its usually an electrical fault to do with the Cruise/Traction conrol and Braking system. the only way you truely know whether you need to change the glow plugs is when your car starts to struggle on cold mornings when starting it such as the mornings we are having. i took my leisure battery off to re charge it on the mains and did not re configure my fuses - set up to run blinds internal light and radio from leisure battery - my glow plug light flashed all the time the LB was not connected.Unusually for me (as I DIY most jobs), I trusted my local independentexpert toreplaceboth unitsin a (successful) bid to finally remove recurrences of the warning lights forthe car'sMOT. Now when the first incident happened it was on it day 60 of a 60 day warrenty, so I'm not sure how things are going to play, all should be fine but I've already had issues with the garage, mainly due to them smashing the bumper before I picked it up and then not wanting to pay the 1000 to replace and buckling my alloy.
