About this deal

Rather than just backing up data from your PC to the DS620slim, it can also back up specific folders to an additional device. Digital storage and management manufacturer Synology recently announced a new 6-bay Network Attached Storage enclosure in its Slim range that is designed to be compact and lightweight while still offering good performance.

According to Synology, an ideal scenario is to use a mix of HDDs and SSDs, of which the fastest is used as cache to improve network transfer speeds and the responsiveness of the server to data queries. However, if available space is a concern and you don't have increased capacity requirements, the DS620slim is one of few products that fits the bill. The actual performance may be lower than lab testing figure due to differences in server configuration, deployment, and the number of active operations. Advanced Bars file system, offering 65, 000 system-wide snapshots and 1, 024 snapshots per shared folder. Credit subject to status, UK residents only, British Telecommunications Public Limited Company acts as a broker and offers finance from PayPal Credit.

In our mixed workload profiles, the DS620slim continued its good performance under iSCSI, posting a throughput range of 6169 IOPS through 11,393 IOPS (vs. Schedulable and instantaneous data protection of shared folders and iSCSI LUNs for disaster prevention. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The point of this locking mechanism is probably more so to ensure that none of the drives are disconnected by accident than for security reasons. The LAN ports of the DS620slim are 1 Gbps, which means that the speeds will be at a maximum of 125 MB per second, unless you use the Link Aggregation option, which I didn’t do during my test.

Here's my question to you: What is the point of loading up one of these smaller, slower units with SSD drives?Another option is to run with four or five mechanical hard drives and then to use the remaining space for one or two SSDs that acts as cache.
