About this deal

You can plug in a hub (although not recommended by Pioneer) but will only ever be able to use a single device at a time in it. The sound quality of the Master Tempo is first rate, with no obvious digital artefacts within the ±10% range at least. Be aware though the the platter is much smaller than that of the CDJ 800/1000, but if you require less music manipulation than that of club DJ's, then these are fantastic CDJ's. The only thing I would say is that the Pitch Control doesn't have a guide on the side, which means making precise beat-matches can be difficult if you use visionary skills. By unchecking this box you will still have advertisements but they may be less interesting :) We are using Google Ad Manager to display part of our ads, or tools integrated to our own CMS for the rest.

Again, this underlines that while the jog wheel is good, it's not a vinyl emulating platter - nor is supposed to be. I'm almost getting bored of reporting about the hottest and latest nextlevelness™ getting all cosy with relatively ancient protocols. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.Would recommend to seller be more responsive to assuage concerns but overall just happy the product came. The latter were the DJ decks of choice throughout the 80s and 90s, but sadly they and my extensive collection of 12in records had to go to make room for the growing mountain of baby paraphernalia. But to balance this, Pioneer are at pains to stress that the CDJ-400 is pitched as a mid-range model that ticks a lot of pro boxes but doesn't cater for the high end needs of your Tiestos and Zabielas of this world. Don't stretch it more that 20% or cymbals begin to break up, but speed up as much as you like - the CDJ-400 is very impressive when pitching up and lacks the softness often experienced with overpitching in master tempo mode.

jog wheel has the same eversoslightly rattling but familiar feel to it, but all the controls have a reassuring smoothness when you use them. Constructed with high-quality materials, the Pioneer CDJ-400 is durable and reliable, ensuring longevity even with frequent use. I tested other decks and other brands I can not find such a precision that these plates (pitch and jog). This is possible down to an early firmware issue with the CDJ-400 (this unit has a big fat "SAMPLE" sticker on it) which will be no doubt fixed in due course, possibly in the New Year.It will also play music directly from mass storage USB devices such as USB keys and external hard drives. But anything else seems to seems to take a while to actually settle down to a reading that is accurate. I’ll say this plain and clear so there’s no mistake - the CDJ-400 is not designed to be a pro level scratch deck.

Firstly I should start by saying that I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but I do know my way around a CDJ. If you’re an existing Pioneer user, you’ll be right at home, as the Pioneer layout rule book has been read and adhered to. I say CBR because that's what the manual recommends, but I used VBR and experienced no issues at all. If you are not capable of mixing 2 tracks together then do not take the gig and take the time to learn to beatmatch and mix tracks. For many people, not being able to see the highs and lows in the audio signal could be a real issue. While for now it is PC only, I expected to be able to plug in a hub and swap between devices as I saw fit.
