Black Opium Neon blends the opening note of pitahaya with a heart of orange blossom on a base of coffee. Black Opium Neon lacks the aggressive tuberose note of Fracas, but the prominent white florals make it feel like it's in the same spiritual family -- BON is like the pretty, slightly-square niece Marilyn to Fracas' Lily Munster. The vibrant combination of pitahaya, mandarin orange, and citron make for an invigorating start, reminiscent of a brisk summer morning. There is something about white florals, oranges and chocolate, coffee, cocoa, or caramel mixing that makes me dry heave. I liked the now discontinued Black Opium flankers Floral Shock and Nuit Blanche much better than this. It becomes sweeter and more subdued in the dry-down when the citruses chill out and the vanilla and musk become apparent, but overall from start to finish it's a very cheerful, exuberant fragrance.It is in line with the others from this serie but different enough to be worth purchasing even if you already have some of the black opiums at home. Another hopeful thing to note is that the beautiful interesting whiffs I get come from my chest area, under my clothes, which indicates that more warmth does bring out a more interesting scent profile, so hopefully this will blow my mind in the right season.
