About this deal

I impatiently ignore Ralfy again by sipping straight from the neck pour, and it follows the nose; a tight, spicy whack and not much else. It’s a testament to Arran’s eco-credentials that the use of wood or metal is eschewed in favour of card, and tastefully done too. The driver will input your year of birth into their device and may then require an ID check to complete the age verification process. This precious liquid is presented in a beautiful gift box with the finest attention to detail which ensures a real treat for the owner of this special whisky, each time to pick it up to enjoy a dram.

The nose immediately reveals delicious sweet Sherry notes whilst the palate has elegance and finesse. I’ve probably built it up in my mind, but after such a high relatively early on in my journey with Arran, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to find one that comes close. Regardless, there’s something out there for everyone and the thrill of finding a new seam of amber that you can tap into is a joyous moment. This producer makes many products including blended whisky, malt whisky, new-make spirit, and liqueur.Carefully crafted and aged to perfection, this remarkable 70cl bottle showcases the epitome of elegance and refinement in the world of whisky. Distilled at the Isle of Arram distillery, in celebration of the famous scottish poet, Robert Burns. All those single casks – some really good, most average – made it so that I didn’t know which one to spend my money on. An hour in the glass for each year in the cask is what Ralfy recommends, but I ignore him this time and get stuck straight in; tight spice, a flash of matchbox striker and the distinctive Arran signature, but not a lot else. The Arran Distillery is a relative newcomer and, having been founded in 1994, is young enough to be considered a newbie but old enough to have produced some mature whisky.

An unadulterated expression of the effects of long maturation on a fine Scotch, bottled at the natural cask strength of 55. Coming back some time later I am met with a burst of lime flowing into green fruits, apple more than others, and then that same apple dipped in caramel. Taste: Gentles spices (cloves, a thin veneer of ginger) and a hint of tannins on the arrival, quickly followed by a friendly fruitiness which is highlighted by lemons, peaches and passion fruit. In nose, this is incredibly similar to the Glenrothes 18, which is considerably cheaper and arguably better. This is truly the jewel in Arran Single Malt’s crown and is 100% matured in a mix of some of the oldest Sherry Butts from the distillery.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Only 12,000 bottles were produced worldwide, all bottled without chill-filtration or added colouring. This Island single malt has been exclusively matured in the finest sherry butts for 21 years, before being bottled up at a very reasonable 46% ABV. Being from The Netherlands, he feels a particular sense of pride when it comes to genever, but really anything that has seen the inside of a still is of interest.
