Philips can’t resist also providing its own Movie mode, which adds a few enhancements to the “accurate” picture core. Sure, you’ll need to spend more than a wee while in the setup menus to get everything sorted – but once that’s done, you can enjoy on-screen movement that’s as unforced as can be. This TV can identify and deliver even the most minor variations in tone or shading, and it can do so without getting unnatural about it. This TV is incredible, the ambilight enhances the picture which is also perfect when playing movies/animations.Despite all Philips' new AI know-how, source detection tools, and seemingly more open picture mindedness, the OLED806 can still deliver pretty varied picture quality results with different types and quality of source. This model is capable of displaying 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space while providing ultra-wide viewing angles! Here it’s on all four sides of the rear of the chassis (which goes some way to explaining its relative depth). The OLED806 also handles near-black picture information superbly for such a relatively affordable OLED TV, avoiding fizzing and blocking noise in dark areas, and delivering smooth blends and plenty of subtle shadow detail (if the brightness is increased a couple of notches from its 50 default position, anyway). As surely as night follows day, many mainstream sets swell in the area where they keen their electronic hardware – and the OLED806 is no different.

Soundtrack effects are projected well beyond the boundaries of the screen, especially with Dolby Atmos content. However, the overriding point in all this is that while you may well prefer to switch to different presets for different content, and while you may well want to tweak those presets to get the best from them, ultimately, the 55OLED806 is capable of adapting brilliantly to pretty much every taste and occasion.
