About this deal

She is 160 feet long, 70 feet in beam, 14 feet in draft, and displaces 560 tons and her diesel-electric propulsion gives her a top speed of 13 knots. It is complicated by the presidential election about to take place and the main opposition candidate's visceral and selfish desire to gain office, come what may. Delta Force team: A team of three, apparently male, they are the death squad of William Pickering and have access to state-of-the-art technology of the time, such as surveillance microbots, an Aurora aircraft, a Kiowa Warrior helicopter and weapons that manufacture their own munitions.

She is sent on a mission by the President of the United States, Zachary Herney, to investigate the crash site of a meteorite in the Arctic Circle and to examine the meteorite remains for possible evidence of extraterrestrial life. She is a woman with a strong mind yet she has her own fears which show that she is real, almost human. The book also subtly touches on political maneuverings to hold power/ to get in to power which is all too common anywhere in the world. I did not find Deception Point as good as Dan Brown's other novels, but it was still an instant classic that kept me on my toes. When the team arrives at the meteorite crater, Ming says he observes something fishy about the site where the pit is located. However, I felt that although there were a female and a male protagonist, the other characters were also equally strong and because of that the strength attached to the main characters were quite diminished.

When the President sent the civilian team to verify the authenticity of the meteorite, Pickering realized that they would discover his plot and that they needed to be eliminated at all costs. Described as very astute and ruthless, she anonymously sends information about the president's expenditure in NASA to lure Sexton into attacking the organization. Suddenly, the helicopter lands and William Pickering emerges, revealing that he is the commander of the Delta Force squad. With the White House in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton and a team of experts to the Milne Ice Shelf to confirm the authenticity of the find.It is also revealed that Rachel’s father’s motives for wanting to dismantle NASA are less than noble, despite his claims that he wishes to redirect the public funding for the space program into education. I am impatient at waiting for the next one to release, so I figured I'd go back to the two I missed. What Rachel Sexton discovers on site sent by the President of the United States is not necessarily announced to the population.
