About this deal

Philip Day discusses Edradour Whisky, providing an overview of this Highland Single Malt. His detailed feature includes images of the distillery, the history of the company and details of the Edradour core portfolio. Taste: Sweet start - but it's sharp and alcoholic. No balance between the various elements. A little watery. The ten year old Edradour is handmade and one of the last Single Malt Whiskies from a traditional farm distillery still in production today. The methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years and are only just capable of commercial quantities. Indeed Edradour Distillery makes as much whisky in a year as most distilleries produce in a week. A rare pleasure for a fortunate few. Oh yeah, this is turning into a sherry monster! The spices and organics grow more powerful over time. Taste: Smooth, fruity start. A solid, sweet centre. Plenty of tannins in the (slightly gritty) finish. Some smoke?

Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”).In 1982 Edradour Whisky was acquired by Campbell Distilleries a subsidiary of the Pernod Ricard company before being sold on to Andrew Symington’s Signatory company in 2002, after Edradour was deemed surplus to requirements, when the parent company acquired Seagram’s extensive whisky operations. The distillery lies directly at the small Edradour burn. Some of the distillery buildings are located on the other side of the water and can only be reached via a bridge. Nose: Starts with an explosion of very concentrated fruits. Softens up after breathing, but remains expressive. The tour is great , informative and fun. Sits on a tranquil river & is pastoral setting and greenery is relaxing Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. The square footage of the distillery buildings? Surface of the distillery grounds? Or maybe its annual output? Taste: Oy! Chemical sweetness, like Blue Curacao liqueur. Smurf whisky? Woodier and winier in the finish.

Toasted nuts, brown sugar, oatmeal-like grain, fruity custard and light bits of toffee, earth and char. Taste: Once again a bit of an odd taste. A chemical fruitiness like the last one. Very, very woody in the finish. Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. Quite rich and very pleasant. Obviously a 'finished' whisky, but it works quite well. Nicely integrated.

By the time that the 5th release of Ballechin is released, it has grown into a true rival for Islay malts. The organics open up nicely. Oriental dishes. After tasting it I got some 'Blue Curacao' in the nose as well. Edradour 10 Years is the flagship malt for the Edradour distillery owned by Andrew Symington who also owns the Signatory Vintage bottling company as well. In addition to their standard Edradour releases they also put out a peated whisky under the Ballechin line which isn’t a totally uncommon practice. Tobermory does the same thing and releases their peated whisky as Ledaig. A clean finish generally, fruity with a touch of vanilla, like a good fruitcake with unctuous custard.Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. We shall first try to settle any dispute over a dram of whisky. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise. I don't have all the latest figures, but I imagine Daftmill or Kilchoman could make claims of their own in this area A variety of whiskies are available from the post-2002 distillery, none of which ever employs artificial colouration, for example, the use of E150a or E150b caramel for either artificial darkening or colour matching and adjustment from batch to batch, nor ever use the process of, endorse or engage in, nor present whiskies that have ever been chill-filtered in any way or to any extent. Chill filtration is a process by which the esters and oils are removed, producing a cleaner look to the whisky, which when chilled or has ice added to it does not turn cloudy. There is, amongst others, a non-chill-filtered 12-year-old malt, some of which goes into the "House of Lords" and "Clan Campbell" blends.

I toured the distillery with my parents and a lovely Australian family. Our tour guide very fun and knowledgeable about Edradour's history and the distillation process. The grounds are very picturesque. It looks like something out of an old movie. Nice to tour a facility that is not a factory but focused on small batch well crafted products. Taste: Ough! Very strange at the start. Soap. Molasses & Mint. Eucalyptus? Malty. Slightly oily. Old vomit. Well, there's a very faint trace of fruits as well after a few minutes. Rough fruitiness, like fresh fruit spirit. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. The whiskies are sorted by series: ‘ The Classic Range‘, ‘ The Cask Strength Series‘, ‘ The Wine Finishes‘ and ‘ The Wine Matured’. These are joined by the range of peated ‘ Ballechin‘ whiskies.Taste: More smoky than peaty at first. Very dry centre, but oddly enough it softens out in the finish. We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. Since purchasing the distillery in 2002, Symington concentrated Edradour’s focus, almost solely, on producing single malts, many of them matured entirely or finished in a variety of interesting casks. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.
