About this deal

The book alternates between the present day life of Laurel (whose entire life was destroyed as a consequence of her daughter’s kidnapping) and the circumstances of Ellie’s kidnapping. Every moment presented itself to her like a gift and said, Here I am, another perfect moment, just look at me, can you believe how lovely I am? Then ten years after her daughter's disappearance, she goes into a bakery after getting her hair cut, and meets a man named Floyd. Apologies for republishing this, but apparently some haters thought it would be funny to report my review and get it taken down because they have nothing better to do. Then She Was Gone references in an excerpt from Ellie’s diary, Alice Sebold’s novel The Lovely Bones, another story about a young teenager who goes missing and the fallout of her unsolved disappearance on her family.

Though some give-away clues are revealed early on, you’re still taken on a journey that will most definitely pull your heart in many directions.Don't even get me started on characters getting all psychic all of a sudden about things that were happening or that they had a "feeling" about plus the character who sees auras.

I've been a Lisa Jewell fan for a long time and in this book, as in all her others, she deftly weaves a compelling plot with an emotional depth that leaves you gasping. Thank you so much to NetGalley, Atria Books, and Lisa Jewell for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. Her emergence from a tortuous state of limbo and her fierce determination to get to the truth, and begin truly living life again was an amazing transformation. Most of her plots are traditional tales that have been told before in some form, but the difference is that she knows how to take something that could be predictable and put her own spin on it.If the author can find just the right combination of these things, then I will be right there ready to throw more stars their way. Not because the plot was stagnant but quite the opposite, it was speeding along so fast and with an outcome that seemed too terrible that I just had to stop, just until the next day when I furiously turned the pages to find out the mystery.

Brooks places the epicenter of the Bigfoot war in a high-tech hideaway populated by the kind of people you might find in a Jurassic Park franchise: the schmo who doesn’t know how to do much of anything but tries anyway, the well-intentioned bleeding heart, the know-it-all intellectual who turns out to know the wrong things, the immigrant with a tough backstory and an instinct for survival.Thankfully everyone is feeling better and today is the first day where they are BOTH back at school! Jewell builds a gripping novel around a maze of dark secrets, a tautly wound psychological thriller in which the suspense builds slowly.

Showboat Medical Examiner Margot Heavner makes it clear that, breaking with her department’s earlier practice ( The Bone Collection, 2016, etc.Populated with fantastic characters, this was a fascinating and moving story about obsession, loss, and family. I intended to spend 90 minutes reading on a weekend afternoon to have a relaxing break from some outside chores.
