About this deal

The Philips OLED+936 has the identical OLED panel and processor set-up as the 986 above. It's the form factor and speaker system that differ. Should you find it’s missing anything else that you need, you can always use the platform’s Chromecast function to send streams from your phone, tablet or computer straight to your OLED TV.

The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. When it comes to buying a television there are plenty of things to think about. The first is likely to be size, to ensure that the TV will fit into your room. If you're looking at buying a Philips TV, the company hasn't yet moved into 8K TVs, but will offer 4K TVs up to 86 inches. With the 9206 we move into Philips’ LED range. While the elegant design remains, performance and features drop. While it doesn't offer the self-emitting pixels of OLEDor Micro LED panels, it should help LCD televisions continue to compete in the TV space, for those without the cash or desire for more premium technologies. You'll find Mini LED tech in both LG's new QNEDrange and the higher-end new Samsung TVscoming out this year too. For those with more mid-spec budgets or tastes, though, there will still be a host of more traditional LCDs to consider. DCI P3 is a color space, introduced in 2007 by the SMPTE. It is used in digital cinema and has a much wider gamut than the sRGB.

The new P5 supports HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and the new HDR10+ Adaptive format. Dolby Vision is onboard, and the 5th Gen P5 continues to improve upon that content in that format with its Dolby Vision Bright mode. Dolby Vision IQ is not supported, but Philips did mention the TV’s light sensor in combination with the Bright Mode should result in a similar experience.

Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. This time there's a 3.1.2ch Dolby Atmos soundbar strapped onto the stand which makes for a very tidy flagship OLED TV solution indeed. It comes in 48in, 55in and 65in sizes and the satisfaction that each time the soundbar has been tuned to make sure that the audio sounds as if it's coming from the centre of the screen. Philips P5 processor with AI delivers a picture so real it feels like you could step right into it. A deep-learning AI algorithm processes images in a manner similar to the human brain. No matter what you're watching, you get lifelike detail and contrast, rich color and smooth motion. The second half means looking at the screen in profile. Philips OLEDs are not alone in being almost supernaturally slim until you reach the point where they keep all their electronic essentials, when they swell to much less glamorous depths. The OLED806 expands to very nearly 7cm - which means it’s far from the most wall-hangable screen around. Still, at least it has some justification for this depth-gain in the form of a unique feature we’ll come to in a moment. Google Assistant is available on Philips Android TVs running on Android O (8) or higher OS version. Google Assistant is available in selected languages and countries.

Even without the surround virtualiser, there’s some clear direction to the phasers firing at all angles during the battle scene too. While the sound is more centred around the panel it does project some way out to the sides and towards our seating position. The 806 and 856 models share a thin, zero-bezel design and feature four-sided Ambilight for an immersive viewing experience. The OLED706 doesn’t miss out on this experience either and comes with a 3-sided version of Ambilight. Philips has not officially announced the OLED706, which gives us the impression it’s due later in the year and likely the re-introduction of its cheaper OLED model (like the OLED754). Its specification is a near match for the OLED806, from its P5 AI processor down to its 50W 2.1 sound system. The biggest differences we can tell are the three-sided Ambilight and a less premium remote. The 62 x 107 x 28cm dimensions (including the feet) might not mean a huge amount on paper but what it really amounts to is the kind of size and shape that will work in almost any home. The ice-skate feet are simple to fit and require just 78cm of sideboard or shelf to stand on.
