About this deal

Two pregnant ladies - one whose baby is unplanned, the other whose baby is planned down to the tiniest detail. Their paths were bound to cross, the common bond discovered. But for me, the suspense felt fabricated and spoon-fed. Not organic or really suspenseful at all. The romance seemed out of place for the way Ms. Dimon created the main female character. Not saying there couldn't have been a romance but the way it played out felt unlikely to the personality of the main female character. The story is told alternating viewpoints of our two main characters Agatha and Meghan. I'm honestly not sure which point of view I enjoyed more... ok.. lets' be honest I was addicted to both damn characters haha. I can't give all the details..because that would be spoilery and I would get punched or something for that. The Secret She Keeps is the second book in HelenKay Dimon’s new series of romantic suspense novels set on the small, privately owned Whitaker Island, located somewhere off the Washington coast. It’s an entertaining, and intriguing read featuring a couple of appealing protagonists and a well-drawn secondary cast, and although I hadn’t read the previous book, I didn’t feel as though I’d missed anything, so this one works perfectly well as a standalone.

Knox, David (7 May 2020). "10 tops entertainment but Seven wins Wednesday". TV Tonight. TV Tonight . Retrieved 21 May 2020.By the time the police realised that Hayden had sent them to them a fake location, Agatha had already called Meghan’s real phone and told her where to go. Meghan escaped the police station and went to confront Agatha. Since then, Michael's psychological thrillers have been translated into twenty-five languages and his Joe O'Loughlin series is are currently in development for TV by World Productions. A six-part TV series based upon his standalone novel THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS was aired on BBC1 in 2020, and a second series begins filming in 2021. Meghan and Agatha share one major commonality—they’re both pregnant. Orchestrated by one, more than the other, they strike up a sort of a quasi-friendship, but there couldn’t be two more different women. Sometimes we make people see what they want to though, don’t we?

THE SECRET SHE KEEPS is a story of secrets and lies; obsession and betrayal. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and spirited.Maddie is an unusual character. She is nice and answers the phones for the police, but she can do it from the comfort of her own home, and nobody really knows her. She hides, she stays away from friendships and conversation, and she keeps her head down. Until Connor.

This is a taut, scary and effective thriller but it’s also a sociological portrait of a society where cupidity, stupidity and fame often coalesce to make a toxic brew.' So many layers to this book. Nothing is as simple as it seems. Secrets, lies and hidden pasts. Nobody's life is perfect. What you see isn't always what it may appear to be. I don't want to say too much more and give anything away. I went into this one virtually blind and I suggest you do the same.

How far will someone go to feed their delusions? How does a family cope with loss, and how can they stay hopeful? These are questions that I hardly had time to worry about. Guilt, blame, and suffering on Meg’s side; madness and calculation on Agatha’s side. Megan and Agatha befriend each other finding commonality in the fact that they are both pregnant and due just about the same time..... from the outside it appears as though Megan has the perfect life... but everyone in this book is keeping some secrets.... I love when an author can make even the most despicable of characters sympathetic.... throughout this book I didn't know who I was cheering for.... Although, I wouldn’t say that this novel was all that suspenseful for me it was the pacing, the writing, and the characters that I found so compelling. Some aspects to this story might have been a little unrealistic but all in all I don’t think it really mattered too much and I was able to just accept it for the wonderful story that it was. Agatha, a store clerk, and Meghan, a stay at home mom/blogger with a seemingly idyllic life, two women who are vastly different in class and style, find a common ground when their lives casually intersect. Maddie’s initial situation felt more like it veered into sensationalism. It was obvious pretty early on that she was in Witness Protection, so her reclusiveness and paranoia made logical sense. She was paranoid because she’d been trained to be that way by experts – because there really were people out to get her. With guns.

Robotham uses a dual narrative to tell the tale. It soon becomes apparent that Agatha is an unreliable narrator whose her awful childhood is meant to mitigate her actions as an adult, although some of those affected have difficulty seeing it this way. Meg’s emotions are more relatable and certainly her anguish is well-conveyed. Over in the uncurated, uncashmered corner we have Agatha (Laura Carmichael), a lonely supermarket worker who is as pregnant as Meghan, but with far less glow. She follows Meghan’s online life and gazes enviously and – could it be? – speculatively when Meghan and her brood come in for their weekly shop.

Fans also discovered Agatha had a history of kidnapping babies, as they found the three graves she had dug for them after they all died.
