About this deal

The sequel to the glorious The Wizards of Oncepicks up almost exactly where we left it– and it's just as thrilling, gorgeously written and illustrated. The information on this site is aimed primarily at parents, educators, reviewers and retailers and you must be over the age of 13 to subscribe to our newsletter. Without giving away the ending in a review, which is a difficult task, all that can be said is that this is a wonderful series to be savoured by fans of How To Train Your Dragon. There's plenty of magic in Cowell's wild woods and it rises from the pages fresh and clear and with fizzling energy.

Wish is a Warrior girl, but she owns a banned Magical Object, and she will do anything to conceal it. But when the first section of the book is entitled "Disobedience," you know rules are off and fun reigns. Packed with Cowell's own quirkly illustrations, and as imaginative, funny and warm-hearted as the Dragon books, The Wizards of Once is a pacy, exciting read that's sure to herald another hit series. If you can make up a game in the playground, or you tell your friends stories, you can be an author! Her art, too, is funny -- including pages from a book of spells and scribbled-in text that comments wryly on the action. The 3D animated film from the studio that created Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, was directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois (the directors of Lilo and Stich) and produced by Bonnie Arnold (who produced Toy Story). She provides her own illustrations, and their scratchy style and scribbled annotations strike the right note. Welcome to the fourth and final book in the absolutely sparkling Wizards of Once series, to be read after The Wizards of Once, Twice Magic and Knock Three Times. When the two young protagonists sneak out of their respective royal residences and meet, their fates become intertwined.

They are being hunted right across the Wildwoods by fellow Warriors, Wizards and, worst of all, Witches. And so I sort of mixed them all up together… the incredible wild woods, the stories about the giants and the fairies that were all made up by people who lived after the Iron Ages, and I put them all together into Wizards of Once. But Wish has got her hands on a secret magical object that she’ll do anything to hide (and Xar will do anything to get his hands on). The final battle scenes are breathtaking, too - Cressida's imagination knows no bounds, and this is epic stuff!
