I think the books did decline in quality, especially the last two, and maybe that's because they delve into the pasts of the characters and their storylines don't deliver what I was expecting for these characters I am so invested in.

I hope we don't get stupid relationship drama in the form of the sheriff winding up pregnant with Will's child in the next books, because I do not pick up these action/thriller/suspense novels to get angsty relationship shit in the process!Also, if you like political mysteries and thrillers in general, the series is a good one (just probably not the best ever). It was like they were a super-villain but not nearly smart, cool, and interesting enough to carry it off. Understandably thrillers like this aren't meant to be compared to a classic like Ulysses but a level of intellectual prowess is often why I approach the books I do, and as I continue to read the Cussler/Child/Baldacci type of books I grow more frustrated with the lack of this important characteristic.

C. for nine years, David Baldacci found fame with the publication of his first novel, “Absolute Power” in 1996—a story that would gain further prominence as a Clint Eastwood movie. Robie and Reel soon discover that there is another group who find themselves hiding out in Eastern Colorado, armed with their millions of dollars and secretive condominiums in former military outposts, awaiting the End of Days. Together, the sexual tension seems almost unbearable, but it does not detract from the plot and cutthroat nature of the mission.Now I don’t know about small-town America but I wondered whether rural Australia has similarly sordid (and exciting) underbellies; as Grand in Colorado is resplendent with a religious cult, luxury doomsday preppers, skinheads and Neo Nazis.
