About this deal

We note also that Christian seminaries devote considerable effort to studying the Hebrew scriptures. This is an integral part of training for Christian ministry. The Hebrew scriptures are read (in translation) every Sunday in many churches all around the world. There is a hadith in which Muhammad said Allah gave the Qur'an in seven different ways (Arabic: ahruf).

Sahih Muslim 1050 shows that entire suras have been forgotten after Muhammad's death. Sahih al-Bukhari 6830 shows two verses that had been forgotten. This led to the Qur'an being being recited differently after Muhammad's death. What does this have to do with the ten qira'at? The effect of Muslims forgetting parts of the Qur'an is that the Qur'an was recited differently. This is seen in the following hadiths. The authors conclude the book in the third section with a defense of the essential Christian doctrines of the authority of the Bible, the deity of Christ, the Trinity, and salvation through the atoning death of Christ on the cross. The defense of these Christian doctrines is presented specifically in light of common allegations by Muslim apologists. There are also several helpful appendices describing such topics as the different Muslim sects and common Muslim accusations against the New Testament. The Basmalah appears 113 times at the start of the surahs and has 4 words which means there are 452 extra words in the Qur’an according to Imam Hafs than the Qur’an of according to Imam Warsh. In the second part, the discussion moves to an evaluation of the Muslim doctrines of God, Muhammad, and the Qur’an from a Christian perspective. Internal inconsistencies in the particular doctrines are carefully examined and exposed, and many factual inaccuracies are pointed out.

The events which the gospels describe for the most part took place in the full light of public scrutiny. Jesus’ teaching was followed by large crowds. There were very many witnesses to the events of his life. His death was a public execution. We read that An-Najm 53:19-23 seeks to refute the pagan Arab belief that Allah had daughters named al-Uzza, al-Ilat and Manat. (See also An-Nahl 16:57 and Al-An’am 6:100). This final act of the Muslim ‘Isa reflects Islam’s apologetic strategy in relation to Christianity, which is to deny the Yeshua of history, and replace him with a facsimile of Muhammad, so that nothing remains but Islam.

However, the relationship between the seven ahruf and ten qira'at makes the authenticity of these isnads problematic.
