The aim of this three day course is to cover enamelling skills and to explore how colour, texture and design ideas can be interpreted in enamel.Following a demonstration of the preparation and firing of enamels there will be further demonstrations on specific techniques: - cloisonne, bassetaille, enamel with foils etc. This is a fine enamelling course and it will cover the washing and grinding of enamels in preparation for wet packing, which allows much more scope for controlled and detailed work. It will also be possible to work on silver however it is worth experimenting on copper samples initially. This course is suitable for those who already have some experience. As the kilns are fairly small, we will be working on a small scale. There will be a variety of enamel samples which should excite and encourage, together with some fabric samples and images for inspiration. At the end of the course, everyone will produce a small item of silver enamelled jewellery.Cost: £240 All tools, equipment and copper metal are provided in the fee and are part of the course. A small amount of silver is also provided. Fittings for earrings and extra silver will be available to purchase should you wish to develop more work in silver.
